Just wanted to stop by and remind everyone that our first goal this season was scored by Stewart Downing.

Carry on.

I never wanted him in the first place (yes, I like Clint)... always said we should be shooting higher to get to the level we need...

That said, we were left awful short of attacking players in the 11th hour this summer...

edit: Also, thankfully Henderson turned down the deal where we tried to swap him with Dempsey...

Balague reporting LFC willing to pay 10m euros for Xabi. Also tweeted this, however.

Well, he's a goal scorer. He's not great at possesion, pressing, or movement (though he has moments at each).

I've always thought that he can be disruptive in the flow of the offense - some games for the national team it feels like he doesn't do anything - feels like we must have a red-card and are down a man at times.

But he picks up fouls and has moments of absolute brilliance. You dont' score 17 (or however many it was) goals in the EPL by accident.

You have to know that you will put up with 60(or 88) minutes of some frustrating play just to see that moment of brilliance. If it leads to a goal, its worth it.

This is making the rounds as our new away... Not sure I believe it, but want to... I'd take anything over that Cosby looking seater thats previously been floated...

I'm expecting a DM and CB at the very minimum.

Realistically I'd like a CB in his prime, young DM (destroyer), a promising young keeper and an extra attacking player.

Ideally I'd like Xabi, Eriksen, a solid CB, back-up LB and solid DM. A lot to ask for, I know. Have a feeling that will be spread out over the summer and winter though.

Not really. That's great and all for a club like Fulham or WBA, but LFC demands more from their players. If you aren't a #9, you need to be a well-rounded player who doesn't go missing every other match.

Xabi, Eriksen, Dede, Lars/Sven Bender & back-up LB(I'm okay with Cissokho)

I'd fap for weeks with this.

My Dream Semi-Realistic Summer bringing Five in...

Defense:
Out: Carra (retire) Coates (loan/sell)
In: Dede/Benatia (RCB) Martins Indi (LCB/LB)
**I'd keep Skrtel for at least one more year for continuity

Midfield:
Out: Spearing (sell) Shelvey (loan/sell) Suso (loan)
in: Eriksen (AMF) Experienced Defensive Mid (dream would be De Rossi) but there are many out there...

Forward/Winger:
Out: Assaidi (sell)
In: Sanchez/Muniain/Ben Arfa

Balague's tweet on Xabi was interesting. Seems to think even if Real wanted to sell and 'Pool ponied up the cash, Xabi would go elsewhere "for a new/different adventure."

Seems like paying big bucks (even if not in the transfer fee, with wages) for a 31yo MF (32 in Nov) when you've already got a 32yo MF mainstay (33 in May) isn't the wisest idea for a team that's rebuilding. Maybe it's worth it though in this transition period.

yeah, we've discussed it here and most would love him back...

I think we should go in another direction and get a younger destroyer... Xabi is too slow to be the DM and Gerrard has dropped back into our "Xabi" role... In reality, I'd rather Mascherano back than Alonso..

I'd love him back as a squad player, but we dont have the $ for a luxury player like that + I'm sure he feels he can play every day... Maybe Italy is in the cards for him

Would love to add Eriksen, Muniain, Dede, Xabi, & either one of Sven/Lars Bender that would be amazing to have then a LB ... I don't know this Martins Indi ... butwe definitely need one to help. If we went young in the position I'd think about Nicholas Boilsen - Ajax as well.

As to your people out I think I agree 100%

Carra - Retire
Coates - Loan
Spearing - Sell I hate having to do this to a hometown kid but needs to be done
Shelvey - Loan
Suso - Loan
Assaidi - Sell or actually play they dude for once
