Wilshere looked way off match fitness and was terribly rusty. Hope Rosicky will be back Tuesday. Probably time to give Poldi and Theo a start as well.

we are so sluggish without rosicky. Poldi needs to start, hes one of those guys that needs a lil time to really get in the game. not bad, looks like they may pull this off.

Gerv just baffles me, he could be a great player if he could just make up his mind.

on santi, it's like the announcers said, he gets lost out on the left. He usually just drifts in anyway.

Stupid Wenger starting a tired and hurt Wilshere ><

Oh well, If you're bored and want to feel hope again watch this video of our U-21 highlights vs Wolves, Akpom and Gnabry are exciting.

yeah, the Wilshere decision was quite odd. Wenger talks so much about protecting him but he doesn't really treat him with kid gloves. Hopefully Jack doesn't turn into another Diaby.

On top of that, AW should realize our squad just isn't near as good with Jack playing the no. 10 role. He may eventually become a great no 10, but he isn't there now.

As for the youngsters, I'm skeptical of Akpom, mainly because every goal I see from him seems really lucky. Maybe he's a Chicharito-esque poacher though and I'm not giving him credit. After having been far too high on guys like Merida, Aneke, and Afobe in the past, I treat our youngsters with a great deal of skepticism until they break through.

Yeah the Wilshere thing really bugs me because Wenger literally just said (about 2 days ago) he rushed him back too fast for the Norwich game... yet starts him again 3 days later?

Gnabry reminds me a lot of the Ox also (random tidbit of the day!)

I'd really like to see a Ramsey-Wilshere axis with Cazorla or Rosicky in front of them. Arteta lacks mobility in a real significant way, and with Ramsey's inability to dribble past people from deep, we could use Wilshere's dribbling from deeper in the park. Arteta has played really well for us since he came, but I can't see him or Rosicky playing for more than one season with us. We need mobility, passing ability, and defensive awareness, and Arteta, being played out of position as he is, isn't mobile enough to suit the way we want to play the game. This lack of mobility is highlighted by the fact that Ramsey and Wilshere have amazing stamina, and run all day.

I also don't think Giroud is playing well enough to pencil him as a starter every game. He's just really profligate. I also really don't like the way Podolski plays on the left. He and Gibbs have a good partnership, but the problem is that Podolski never makes runs to get behind the defense, save for the rare occasion he moves around the box. His movement is more indicative of a false 9 than it is of a winger or a wide forward.

Was rosicky healthy? He should have started over wilshere if so. If not, poldi in the left and cazorla for wilshere prob would have won us that game. The slow starts are killing us this season.

I never know what formation we run once the game starts, always some form of 4-3-3, but either way at the beginning if the season when it was more like 4-2-3-1, Arteta was playing the double pivot to perfection.

That could be the future. As far as positional awareness goes between those two and Mikel, it goes Arteta ---> Rambo ------> Jack. I think we could potentially get into some trouble there. But maybe Ramsey stays anchored more without Arteta staying back there. I'd be shocked if we dropped Mikel at any point this season though. It is frustrating that Santi and Jack haven't gelled well together. In the matches where Jack was in the axis with Mikel and Santi played CAM, we were vulnerable defensively and didn't really break out offensively.

Agreed on Giroud. I wouldn't mind seeing Poldi or Theo start up top vs Fulham. Poldi as LW is frustrating for vast portions of the match, but he also does provide some moments of danger. I yell at him frequently for never running behind the defense. Also, I've been one of his harsher critics, but The Ox may have earned a start with his play of late as a sub.

I'm not a huge fan of Podolski or Giroud.

Arsenal fans troll Bale's Q&A hard core

Son of a bitch, I had a little thing with stats typed up on Giroud vs Podolski when my comp blue screened.

I'll recant the basics though

Giroud - 2250 minutes(ish) 11 goals, 4 assists, 1.1 key passes per match, 64% pass completion rate.

Podolski - 1650 minutes (ish) 9 goals, 9 assists, 1.1 kppm, 84% pass completion.

I know stats don't tell the whole story but I think Poldi's experience also speaks for him, I think he's definitely better and should be given a chance to play more/play more up front even.

I would be ok with pushing Poldi closer to goal.

i'd be down to see it again, but i also remember what an unmitigated disaster he was at CF earlier in the year.

I'd rather buy a real striker. We have no player who can create their own goal.

Honestly I wouldn't mind Theo playing through the middle now. He had 4 goals and 2 assists in his six games as a CF. He would be a real asset if we insist on playing the game as we do.

...What? He only played one match as a CF early in the year

did I say he played up there more? it was probably the worst non-Chamakh CF performance we've had. I don't think he has the skill set to excel as a lone striker in this formation, but i'd be willing to try something different vs Fulham. I think Theo should play top Saturday and definitely agree with crazy that we need a striker.

I want to see more of Theo up top.

Unrelated, who's going to Finn's Saturday morning?

Your Ramsey jersey is looking a lot better recently glass, still needs some work going forward but he's doing quite well alongside Arteta
