How so? Every other time a keeper knocks out a striker when he's the last defender its a red

Because it's not like Giroud rounded him and had an empty net. He took a shot/heavy touch and so a goal wasn't very likely, imo. Didn't see it in real time, so I'm just going off the gif. But I would say PK and a yellow.

Only saw first half. We looked good. Glad they stuck with fab kosc and per.

Def should have been a pk.

Probably was a red. GK was last man. Debatable, but he took down Giroud and there was no one else between him and the goal, even though there was a bit of an angle.

Btw, it's not in the gif, but Arteta's 40yd lofted pass to set up that was gorgeous.

Saw he got the pk. Arteta has been great for us. Completely deserving of the arm band.

He had a couple of balls that were lovely. I swear Cazorla has to be the best dribbler we've had in the Wenger era, not in terms of beating his man, but in terms of creating space for himself, and keeping possession of the ball. It's fricking magnificent to watch him work.

The midfield combo of Cazorla-Rosicky-Ramsey-Arteta looked as in sync as we've been all year. All were really great. I'm sure that had nothing to do with the competition though...

As Orbinho tweeted today, Arsenal actually controls its own destiny for 4th now. Hopefully we can get the job done.

You tend to keep up with European soccer on the whole better than I do, have any targets in mind for the summer?

Depends on what position. We need a DM who can actually pass, which is super hard to find. I would have loved to sign a player the caliber of Paul Pogba, who I think is the best young midfielder in the game.

I suppose we will be linked with Jovetic, Ogbonna and others, with TV5, Gerv, Djourou, PM4, and others possibly leaving.

We'll be linked with Germans too. Mirror today ran some BS about us chasing Götze, Lewandowski, and Lars Bender. Also mentioned Gonalons. I'm sure they're just throwing shite against the wall and seeing if it sticks.

DM will be an important buy. Sure we'll be linked with those two, Capoue, Wanyama, as well as some others. I haven't watched any enough to have a useful opinion.

I would enjoy a wanyama signing from what I saw in the champions league

I worry about his passing ability. The thing that separated Song from other DM's was his lovely final ball. You don't find a final ball like that in world football easily.

well Song didn't have that from day 1. though we need more of a finished product at this point.

Well sure. But Song had it by the time he was 21. His passing ability was unique because he coupled it with a physical game. He wasn't very mobile, though, which prevented him from becoming a player like Pogba, who has to be the most impressive 19 year old I've ever seen.

I don't think Wanyama is the passing DM we need. Nor do I think Capoue can fit that role. Ideally it would be a combination of Frimpong's physicality with Coquelin's passing and work rate, but it doesn't seem like either of those players will work out.

ETA: Coquelin's passing is somewhat disappointing, but when you compare it to our other midfielders, it might be more reasonable.

I don't think Song was a great passer at 21, his first year of really contributing for us, but from what it sounds, he was better than Wanyama is now. Do you think the player we bring in should be more like Song was last season or more defensive?

Could Bender fill that role?

Song had that final ball in 2009. Think the Burnley FA Cup game from that season. Song was utterly magnificent that game. His passing then became underrated, overshadowed by Arshavin, Rosicky, and Fabregas, but he is still a better passer than nearly all our other DM options. I will have to watch Bender.

Artera highlighted why having a DM who can pass is so important. His play also highlights why we struggle with teams who can up the tempo, as he lacks mobility. When Ramsey played that role earlier this year, his ability to run and tackle freed our attacking players to attack. I'm hoping we have someone step up from the academy or the fringes of the first team, but it looks like we will have to get someone.

Yeah that was a fun match. Nice to see us take it to a club we should be dominating. Hopefully we can do the same in our next few matches against easy foes.

Should I assume this Jovetic news is bs?
