Odom back to LAC

quote:

The Dallas Mavericks traded Odom to the Los Angeles Clippers as part of a four-team trade on Friday.

The Clippers sent guard Mo Williams to the Utah Jazz. Utah will use the trade exception it created in the Mehmet Okur deal with New Jersey this past season to take on Williams' contract.

The Mavericks also will create their own trade exception worth $8.9 million by shedding Odom's contract without taking any salary back.

this is really, really weird

Ronny Turiaf isn't picking up his option with the Heat. this will create a legit ripple effect with title implications in 12/13

Scared of that Justin Hamilton competition.

Seriously, why the frick would he do this??? He made $340,298 this season and doesn't pick up a $1,200,000 player option???

He'd get a pay raise by four times original salary. Get to play with the world champs. Get to live in south beach with beautiful weather and beautiful women.

Meh, really difficult decision.

Jameer Nelson opting out of the last year of his deal. I didn't see that coming.

That's stupid.

No way any team will pay him the money that he would have been due next season.

i just saw that

the Magic have to be pumped at the news

Nash Speaks

quote:

"I don't necessarily feel like it's a home run anymore," Nash said of re-signing with the Suns. "I don't necessarily feel like they're determined to keep me. I think there's a lot of factors. So, one, I'm not sure they're determined to keep me, (and) two, there's other opportunities that are exciting. So I think I have to be open-minded ... but at the same time be able to forecast where I'll be most successful and happiest."

Nash has made it a point in recent interviews to stress that he's "open to everything" and say he'll listen to any team that calls, but industry sources monitoring the free-agent market have identified four teams that pose the greatest danger to the Suns in terms of signing Nash away: Toronto, Dallas, New York and Brooklyn.

What the 2012 draft picks are worth

quote:

Anthony Davis (No. 1 pick, New Orleans)
73.9 projected WARP; Net Value of $127.6 million over rookie scale

quote:

No one was close to Davis when it came to consideration as the top pick, and no one is close to projected value. He projects to add nearly 74 wins to the Hornets' bottom line the next four years, while costing New Orleans just $17.2 million. Those wins, in an open-market environment with no cap and no max salary, would be worth $128 million. I'd say that's a bargain. If Davis meets expectations, he'll have no trouble landing a max contract when his rookie deal is up.

the next handful are in the $40 range

*ETA: actually sully is like $99M

That sounds great and all, but I really don't see how they can realistically project this when he has not bounced a ball on an NBA floor yet.

It's going to cost him a couple million though. He would have been making over $7M next year.

at that scale, maybe it's easier to take 3.5 mil to be happy instead of 7 mil and miserable

I wouldn't want to be anywhere near Orlando and DH this season and it's not like no one will sign him

reports are that he's open to re-signing with the magic. i'm guessing he thinks he has leverage in the dwight sweepstakes and thinks he can use this to get an extension. i will wager that this is a miscalculation
