Have heard yft hit them because they look similiar to flying fish when in the water, has anyone ever tried it? I caught some in the cast net the day before last overnight trip but never got around to using them offshore

I answered your question. You asked if anyone had used them.

I know in the fall, they are definitely used when the Mullet make a run offshore, not so sure about in the summer though, would think some finger Mullet wouldn't get turned down though.
