I'd like to know where are stats were in just SEC play, not what the numbers look like when you factor in the midweek cupcakes

Realistically, how much credit should Javi get for the hitting prowess of Rhymes, Ross, & Katz this season?

Given the styles of Rhymes & Katz, I really don't see him as having much to do with their success.

Ross is still an open question--he might have been helped by coaching.

But shit, just add in the woeful baserunning and the terrible approach to AB the team had this season and you'll see that Javi had another terrible year.

LSU had about 100 more plate appearances.

Virtually none for Rhymes(.483 hitter in juco), I could be the hitting coach and he'd hit at least .375

Pretty sure Rhymes was a badass at LSUE, before Javy could corrupt him.

I think he was helped more by losing weight and having a year of experience behind the plate. That adjustment last season, I believe, did not allow him to focus at the plate as much. Becoming more comfortable behind the plate this season helped him out. We had no veteran catchers last year, Ross and Snickeris were both in their first year in the program.

Thats overall though, your idea is probably right if doc has the SEC breakdown.

Players can't hit isn't the reason for hitting coach.

You have to question PM's intelligence if he truly believes that statement. It's a wasted coaching position because Javi doesn't do anything well, besides babysitting while PM is out of the office.

No one really expected anything different. Oh well.

For me the bottom line is this--the players are clearly being coached to do something besides having level swings and hitting low line drives.

In other words, it's not just that they lack coaching. They are somehow being given incentives to bat the wrong way. The same concept applies to baserunning.

He could have at least taken responsibility as a staff if he was worried about people going after Javi before passing all blame to the players

So you're saying we'd actually be better off without a hitting coach? I can believe it.

I'm anxious to read the whole quote in context or the whole interview. I want to know if he was asked about Javi or just offered that up.

It's entirely possible that he's completely oblivious to how terrible the fans think Javi is.

From reading Sabadie's other tweets it looks like he had an interview with him today and several other things were also addressed. I hope they have video, I would like to hear the question and quote.

I would bet Alleva isn't, though.
