Speculation on #9's contract

Twitter post says that shelter says that saints offered to make Brees higher paid than Brady and Manning. Can't find a link to corroberate but thought I'd share. LINK

I was going to be a complete and totally obnoxious a-hole to you, but you're new and seem to try hard not to be a dick, so I'll just say that this has been reported many times before.

I know that. I'm just getting tired of hearing people say that the saints need to pay the man. The saints put out a good offer but nothing is going to happen without that arbitrators ruling and a clock about to run out.

I think what's going on here is that the Saints leaked out that they sent Brees a new offer to 2 or 3 media members. They would run with it and get the fan base all excited that a deal was imminent (which is what happened) All the while the Saints and Brees were no closer to a deal than they were a week before, it's just now the fans will turn on Brees when he doesnt say anything for a week or he rejects the latest offer. We may be in this for awhile

it doesn't matter what the # is, it has to be guaranteed.

This is actually the most plausible, logical explanation I have seen yet for what has happened the past 7-10 days. Excellent post.
It's well known that both sides of any high-level negotiation use the media to further their ends. Very good reasoning here and this would explain a whole lot from how dead set convinced those few local media members were while the national media knew nothing about it.

If I were a reporter or something, I think I'd pass on reporting rumors like this.
The probability of being the first to break the story is smaller than the probability of looking like a fool.

How do you explain Scott Shanle, Mark Ingram, Roman Harper....
You can make intelligent comments negatively about saints players, but don't bash them for no reason.
