My wife and I are driving our 12 year old up to camp in Brevard, North Carolina this weekend. When we go back to pick her up in 3 weeks, we wanted to spend a few days around there doing fun stuff (stay in a cabin, rafting, zip lining, horseback riding, etc). Anybody been recently and can recommend some things to do ? I have all girls (14,12 and 7. Thanks in advance for any help !!!

Dahlonega Ga is the first place to mine gold in the US. They have a tour down in the mine and its a really cool little town. Helen Ga is a nice little town made up like a Bavarian village. Smith House is a great restaurant in Dahlonega.

Raft the Nanthala, take a ride on the Great Smoky Mtn. Railroad, drive the Blue Ridge Parkway, Bilmore House. Lots of cabins on vrbo.com.

The Nantahala is a great family rafting trip. I usually float it in a duck boat. It's the right amount of whitewater for your kids. You can drive up to Wayah bald, which is not too far. There is a lookout tower there, great views of big mountains. I love that area.

headwater outfitters (about 15 mins from brevard)does guided fly fishing trips. kind of pricey but it's a beautiful area.

if you brought your own fly gear they will sell you some flies and give you some advice on where to go...
