Let me start by saying that I didn't get to watch the game yesterday, so I read Dandy Dons recap. It seems to me that we got a ton of help from Oregon State in regards to hit batters, wild pitches, and scored a few of the runs on infield hits.

So I just wanted a couple of opinions on the way we played. Does it seem like we still need our bats to come alive? Pitching speaks for itself at this point I believe.

Absolutely.

We made two boneheaded errors. Aside from that, the team was solid, very solid. The game wasn't as close as the score reflects.

The hitting needs to be good enough to score one more run than the pitching/defense gives up.

Actually, it was one inning where they gave us a run on two errors and and wild pitch, but they had 3 hit batters if I remember right.

Gausman didn't have his best stuff, but battled well and still limited them to one run.

We hit the ball well to me and had several good at bats, albeit only singles besides Nola's big triple in the 8th. Their second baseman took a couple of hits away. Nola had a great game, and we will benefit from him taking charge and being the leader.

Once Raph and Katz get hot again, I think we will be that much more difficult to beat.

Gausman wasn't typical Gausman but still only gave up one run on three consecutive singles with two outs.

Oregon State made mistakes but they never had a chance to win.

LSU had timely hits from the seniors to score runs.

Here's what you need to know to sum up the game.

- Even when gausman is not pitching his best game he is still very very good
- Austin Nola is one hell of a defensive player, and he is on a tear at the plate (as of recent I'd rather him up with runners in scoring position than rhymes)
- We made a few boneheaded plays on defense, but other than that were solid
- We got enough hits when we needed to score more runs than them.
- We took advantage of their mistakes. Playing in Alex Box seemed too big for them.
- If we have to play them again todaydon't expect the game to end till 10:30.

our #3 and #4 hole hitters have been relatively quiet lately. i have a feeling they are gonna come alive at the right time.

Thanks for the info. Yeah I just went back and read DD report and it seems we had 5 of the 7 runs scored by batters that were bit by pitch and drove in on infield singles.

Yeah winning 7-1 against a team ranked in top 20 is just dreadful.

When you and guttata have intercourse, who's the pitcher and who's the catcher?

Never said that it was dreadful or that I wasn't happy about the win. I'm just thinking that when we play against the top 8 in Omaha, we will have to be more consistent at the plate as we won't be given quite as many gifts.

Gausman didn't have a good night; strike zone was very, very tight but fair to both sides; We do need our bats but doubt we'll see the best pitching regardless who we play cuz they'll have to use their staff to win the first game and then turn around and have to beat us with whoever is left in the pen.

I just wish we could hit as well as some of the other national seeds. I mean we only had 7 runs and 8 hits.

Florida 6 runs 9 hits
FSU 8 runs 9 hits
UNC 4 runs 8 hits
USC had 5 runs 12 hits in 12 innings
Oregon 7 runs 10 hits (ps osu swept them)

We arguably played a better team than most of them. I think what you guys seem to be missing is that this is what college baseball is these days. We hit just as well as the other top teams and have superb pitching. We are just as capable of winning it all as anyone else.
