"I won a national championship in New Orleans, so why not win another one in New Orleans?" said Davis

quote:

"This can kind of bring joy back to New Orleans," Davis said. "I guess I get lucky when I go there."

I forgot, we now have a chance to have 2 Olympians with Gordon and Davis.

quote:

His spring hasn't been too shabby, either. Davis has visited the White House with the Wildcats and found out he's part of a pool of 21 players with a chance to be one of the final dozen on this summer's USA Olympic team in London. If Chris Bosh is out because of an abdominal strain, and with Dwight Howard ailing because of a back injury, Davis' chances increase.

He still has to find a spot among bigs Tyson Chandler, Blake Griffin, Kevin Love, LaMarcus Aldridge and Lamar Odom. But a few bigs are going to get cut.

Instead of playing for the Hornets in the NBA's summer league, he could be playing for the United States in London, going for gold in what has been an award-winning year.

Actually 4, Kaman plays for Germany and I believe Aminu is going to play for Nigeria.

Wouldn't Goose play for Mexico? Can't imagine them having that many players better than el goose.

Eta: Unless Mexico didn't make the Olympics. Haven't been keeping up with my Olympic basketball qualifiers.

What about Belli for Italy? He's not the greatest but I can't think of too many other players that would be better

ETA:these are the teams so far qualified for the OLympics, 3 more spots remain.... LINK

ETA2: yes, I realized I just derailed my own thread

I was thinking about this the other day.

Who was the last player to win a NCAA national championship as a starter and an NBA championship as a starter?

With all the high school kids, we may end up having to go back a while. Do you have to go back to Jordan?

As far as starters go? Yeah, probably Jordan in '98.

Some have done both recently, but not as a starter on one or the other, like Corey Brewer. Brewer was a starter with Florida on two title teams, but was a backup on last year's Mavs.

Chalmers might do it this year, he was close last year.

Rip Hamilton (2004) and Antoine Walker (2006) are the most recent, I believe.

Had we won it in 08, the answer would have been Mo Pete.
