Will he go out like Elway? It's always the perfect way to cap a career and there isn't anything left to prove..

No why the heck would he not try and pass Kobe? Duncan will retire when Pop does

I don't see why. He's healthy and productive and the offense still operates through him. He could win another.

The way he has played this season, he still has a good bit left in the tank. I would be surprised if he does, but it would be a great story if he does.

what else does he have to play for? Pop? I promise you if he wins this year, he's back to the islands.

He's not really in competition with Kobe. He is the greatest PF of all time. Has a stellar resume and another ring gives him more than Shaq (which will really piss Shaq off). He is getting up there and his skills are eroding. Why not walk away with another ring and with no major injuries? He'd be leaving just like his mentor, the Admiral, plus the Spurs will still be competitive without him (he's not leaving the cupboard bare)..

the better question here is who replaces duncan? Without him, they're still a playoff team, but they're no champioship-caliber squad. Dude is irreplaceable, but who would be a good replacement to keep the spurs where they are now?

Shaq has honestly no one to blame but himself.

Duncan now says it's realistic to expect him to play another year or two. Three or four years, he thinks, would be a stretch, even in his improved condition. This much is certain: He has little interest in testing the free-agent market when his contract ends after this season, negotiating leverage be damned.

Hmm.. well Bonner and Splitter are signed for next season and Blair's option isn't that expensive. They'd probably resign Diaw and knowing the Spur's luck Fabo Melo will probably fall to them in the draft. They'll take a step back, but could still be competitive.

When you get a DNP: Old, you have to retire.

Hopefully we never have to answer that question. I'd rather see the Spurs lose and Duncan retire...never liked him
