Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Joel Edgerton, Carey Mulligan, Isla Fisher, Jason Clarke, Elizabeth Debicki and Amitabh Bachchan, the The Great Gatsby arrives in 2D and 3D theaters on Christmas Day.
The Great Gatsby follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz and bootleg kings. Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby, and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy, and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan. It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. As Nick bears witness, within and without the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles.

The poster is really a great rendition of the period. Art Deco at its best.

One thing Baz can do is make things look beautiful. Looks visually amazing.

One of my favorite books growing up. A little skeptical though. Hopefully Luhrmann can pull it off without it being too grandiose and Moulin Rouge-like.
And 3D?
And 3D?

Bioshock movie needs that same font

Michelle Williams would've been better for this than Carey Mulligan

Unless isla Fischer goes topless, why on earth would this be available in 3d?

I hope there's more Isla Fischer in the movie than there was in the trailer cause I saw NONE.

Ive done forgot what this book was about. Didnt some girl get killed and gatsby got framed or something?

I've really never thought Carey Mulligan was much to look at. Sometimes with short hair, she kind of looks like a little boy

There's so many intellectual thoughts I want to write, but all I can think about is why the frick will this be in 3D?

I hope the sound track is more authentic to the period than the music that played during the trailer.
The visuals looked stunning, which is appropriate since the novel uses color to communicate themes. This gives me good feelings about the movie, and I'm sure I'll watch it in the theater.
Nevertheless, I hate 3-D, even in action movies. I wish the 3-D fad would go away again.
I have no problem with the casting. Having said that, the directing will be an important factor here. These characters are subtle. Your feelings about the characters are supposed to evolve as the story unfolds I'm sure DiCaprio and McGuire can portray them well, if the director does his job correctly.

I'm guessing that since it has the same director as Moulin Rouge and Romeo & Juliet, this movie will not be a pure adaptation of the novel. I expect an unnecessary amount of choreography.

This makes me sad.

Not a fan of contemporary music in movies set in the past. And it looks like it has lots of CGI.

I'm hoping it's just a trailer specific thing.
I just don't want to see some over stylized bullshite. And I have the sinking feeling that's what we're going to get given who is directing.

I remember reading this book in 10th grade and actually liked it pretty crazy ending.

I have no idea what this movie/book is about. If the book isn't super long I might read it this summer cuz I feel like a moron for not knowing.
