Took my kid to see Avengers at the Mall IMAX last week. The big screen and 3D were pretty cool, but it was by far the loudest movie I have ever heard. My daughter tried to lean over and tell me something during the Prometheus trailer, and I couldn't hear a thing she said.

I thought I was just being oversensitive, but there were several people around us complaining about the same thing, and some even had their hands over their ears during all of the action scenes. Is that normal for an IMAX movie(this was my first one), or was the volume just cranked way up for this one?

On a serious note, the IMAX movies are always loud as fock.

Its that way to compensate for people talking during the movie.

I like the volume, and the fact that it prevents people from having conversations is awesome too, since the Rave could give a frick about people talking through movies.

I wish my theater was louder so I could actually hear the movie over the chit-chatting!

thread highjack.

I wish Louisiana had a real imax other than the one at the Aquarium in NOLA, so I can watch Batman in true IMAX

I'm hijacking this to ask this question.

What is the difference between 3D and IMAX 3D in the theaters (Rave has both)? Price difference worth it?

Bigger screen. Better picture. Better sound.

Main reason I love IMAX is the audio is on another level.

Last regular movie I went to go see was entirely too fricking load. I mean regular dialogue as blowing my ears out.

When did they get IMAX at the Rave?

Edit: Nevermind. I looked it up. Like someone said though, it's not the original IMAX, but it looks like this is IMAX's new business model so the old huge screen will eventually become a thing of the past.

The IMAX screen at the Rave is pretty damn huge.

You just sit a lot further back from it than the IMAX theater.
