There's something about him that just gets you upbeat about the future direction of the team and his ability to get things turned around. I haven't seen him coach a single game yet but from everything you've seen from this guy so far since he's gotten back on campus, how can you not have a positive outlook?

He's got an enthusiasm and charisma that you just didn't have with TJ. It's to be seen if he can consistently bring in talent, but he's off to a pretty good start I'd say.

Let's not his team beat LSU by 20 two years ago! Maybe he'll bring offensive strategies with him. LSU basketball could use a faster pace.

Not there. I still thinking Alleva settle and didn't try to find the best coach. Jones has been nothing more than an average coach in a below average conference.

I had the same view throughout the roundball coach search process, but have decided to let bygones be bygones. Though we were not privy to all of Alleva's efforts, it did seem disappointing that thanks mostly to Trent Johnson, the LSU coaching job did not seem to be very attractive to lots of coaches out there & maybe the timing wasn't right for others.

I do think Jones will be a definite improvement over Johnson & he atleast seems far more upbeat about coaching basketball at LSU than his predecessor.

I am impressed.

I wanted a coach that would energize the fanbase. A Bruce Pearl type w/o the show cause.

Maybe we got that guy w/ LSU as his dream job. Just like any coach we need to see what year 3,4,5 produces. But I am upbeat and happy we hired Coach Jones - initially I thought bottom barrel cheap hire.

I want to be SOOOO wrong.

He certainly seems to be shaking things up. We needed that.

I'm thinking his record in the past 6 seasons for 20 win years, when you consider what the program was before he got the job, is probably better than "average".

Why don't we give the guy a couple years before we start cutting him down.

If he can get us to the final sixteen in his second year he will make us forget about Brady. ;)
Seriously, I wish him the best and hope he has a tenure as long as Brown's.

Assuming he continues to "energize the fanbase", how many RPG do you think they add?

I believe he will be here for a very long time. I think we are finally set on coaches for the 3 big sports for a while.

You have inspired me with this quote today, Slim. Excuse me while I go hang myself now.
