A Russian father-of-two is lucky to be alive after he was shot through the neck with an arrow as he went for a walk in the park with his family.

Konstantine Myakush, 38, was on a family outing with his two daughters near a sports center in Moscow when he was struck by the stray 20-inch-long arrow.

The arrow, believed to have been misfired by a member of an archery club nearby, would have killed Myakush if it had hit him just one inch to either the right or left by piercing a major artery.

Incredibly, Myakush remained conscious and even called his wife immediately after he was hit to tell her what happened. She then called an ambulance who rushed Myakush to hospital where he underwent numerous scans to check whether it would be safe to remove the arrow.

After making sure the arrow hadn't hit any major organs, surgeons operated on Mr Myaksuh and successfully removed the arrow.

A hospital spokesman said Mr Myakush was incredibly lucky the arrow missed his brain, adding: 'He would have been dead by now. It's a miracle that he survived.'

Archery club officials have suspended an instructor pending an investigation and have agreed to end outdoor practice sessions. A police spokesman told local media: 'It seems that one of the archery club members misfired and unfortunately the arrow hit Mr Myakush.'

My Myakush is recovering in an Intensive Care Unit and is expected to make a full recovery. He should be released from hospital in a few weeks time.

Field Points =/= Broadheads

Begin Arnold Accent: "I need your clothes, your boots, and your motorcycle." End Accent.

Phone call to wife: "Oh hey honey, I am out here in the park with the two girls...by the way, there is an arrow sticking out of my neck. I think I need to go to the hospital."

No mention of the 12-ring in the story, just reliving the good ol days of competitive 3D archery.

Back when my shoulders still worked anyhow.

Ok I get it, I know nothing about competitive archery.

Wonder how deep that thing went in. Doesn't appear to come out the other side.
