Who do you guys think?
I personally think Yaya Toure has had a great year for City...especially since they're about to take the title....

Antonio Valencia almost certainly has to be in the conversation.

I have to go with Toure's team mate David Silva.

Dempsey, Mata, Silva and Valencia. I would put Silva #1 but he only has 2 assists in his last 10 matches.
Bale, Modric, Van der Vaart and Arteta are in tier 2.

Mata and Silva
First two names that popped in my head. I haven't watched a ton of City matches, but I've seen a few and David Silva has never looked poor.

He has been less than stellar in a few matches.

Modric definitely needs to be in the conversation.

So doth Arteta. Extremely underrated player. I'd say Modric slightly over him this season though. THe others mentioned are more attacking, less balanced midfielders.

Oh, I'm sure he's had a few off days, but when I've watched, he's really impressed me. Same with Mata though...but I've watched Chelsea a lot more and sometimes Mata kind of disappears for large stretches during a match. It's possible that the difference is the quality of strikers playing in front of them though.

Impossible.
And if that is the case, I blame Drogba and Lukaku..

I can basically go with this if we agree to add Yaya and Song and drop Valencia to tier 2 because of his half season
ETA: Also, Charlie Adam gets last place.

I'm trying not to be too homerific here, but where would y'all rank Dempsey's play this season?

I would have had him in the EPL team of the season. I think a lot of English pundits and writers would agree with that as well. When you consider his goals and that he doesn't take (or score) penaltys and rarely if ever free kicks its really unbelievable what a good and consistent player he has become.
Consistency is of course key. The only midfielder that has scored more goals over the past 4 seasons is Lampard. And that's only because of penaltys, Dempsey has scored i think 2 and Lampard 20+. I think a big team definitely snaps him up this summer, with a year left on his contract he should be available for ~10 million GBP.

The second I saw this title the first thing I thought was ole Chuck.

I think Silva and Mata had by far the best run of form at a specific time, but Mata's slipped a month or more ago, Silva's play has dipped over the past month.

i feel like silva's form slipped towards the end of the season too. i really felt like there were times over the last 1/3 of the season where he was very quiet.
that said, i still rate him as the best midfielder this season.

Yaya and Silva have got to be up there. You could see the drop in form when either were out of the team.
Both have an impeccable habit of playing every second of the match and hustling the whole time. Both are excellent passers of the ball and finishers.

most consistent was dempsey. He pretty much carried that team this season. Silva, mata, modric, et al are great midfielders and had great runs of form at some point this season, but week in and week out I think dempsey did the best job.

Dempsey probably should be worthy of consideration after the year he's had, too.
I'm hoping this can translate for him with the USMNT being that world cup qualifying is coming up soon.
