Was visiting some links about it and thought this was most succinct- "The Fillmore of the South". Look at the lineups below in the years I went a lot. Friggin HOF bands week after week. Seems like $10 was the ticket threshold- for scalped tickets!

Grateful Dead christened it. They were busted at their hotel which was noted in the song 'Truckin'. Jim Morrison's last gig with the Doors there. The Allman Bros. were called the house band! There was nothing quite like it. You didn't even have to bring pot. The air was a dense fog of smoke.

Nice Story from a coupla yrs ago. Don't miss the video at the end.

I saw a lot of the early concerts : Grateful Dead, Fleetwood Mac, Joe Cocker, Grand Funk, Jethro Tull etc.

In the early days, there was just the concrete floor and ou grabbed a throw rug/mat on your way in. Good memories !

My wife and her best friend in high school were St. Martin "hippies". They used to hitchhike from Metairie to the Warehouse in their hip hugger bell bottoms. They never had a problem catching a ride.

I didn't move to N.O. until later but I remember and miss the place. shite you could see great shows for $5.

<---------------- This guy liked The Warehouse so much he would wear the shirt when playing elsewhere. A color picture of the shirt has it trimmed in purple and gold!

I went to St. Martin's and also worked at the Warehouse back in 71-73. I wonder who these STM hippie chicks were?
