What is the thought on Carlos Beltran?

Is he worth being rostered in a dynasty league? Do you see him actually hitting 17-20 HR this year with a .275 average? I was encouraged by his early start, but he has been dismal for the last two weeks, and I am thinking about dropping him for some SS depth (A. Escobar would be the add to compensate for the Jose Reyes injury that will happen). What do you think? By the way, OF is Bruce, Stanton, McCutchen, Werth, Gordon, Crawford (start 3 with two Util spots). Any reason to hold on to him? Also, do you think he would have any trade value greater than Escobar would be from the waiver wire?

how many teams in the league?
he has value. just depends on how many teams in the league.
id prob drop Crawford before i dropped Beltran.

Crawford takes up a DL spot, so with the dynasty factor, he is a not taking up a roster spot and has the greatest chance for impact over the next couple of years. This is a 12 man league with 28 man roster (equivalent to some 14 man leagues).

Even with what this dude calls a dismal two weeks, he's still 9th overall in the redd rankings.

He has 8 runs, 7 rbi's, 3 sb's, and 2 hr over the last two weeks.

i wouldnt drop him. not for Escobar.
btw he hit 22 HRs and had 84 RBI last year. Im sure he can hit 20 HR again if he remains fairly healthy. shite he could approach 30 if he gets near 600 plate appearances like he had last year.

Sorry more like the last 10 days where he has 0 HR and has had his average drop from .333 to .256. He also has struck out 22 times in 78 AB where he only struck out 27 in his last 167 AB last year (this league counts -1 for Ks). Just some numbers that scare me for an aging outfielder. I will ride it out, and again, I was encouraged by the fast start/rejuvenation of speed to start with, but he has looked horrible in his last 10 games.

yeah. I have a roster spot opening up in a couple of days from a trade, and will probably just make an add then. Just had a few minutes on hand and was tinkering with my roster. Thanks for the help.

its just a slump i think
his 5 SBs tells me he is feeling pretty good. someone with a history of leg problems.

Yeah. I think I am just gun shy because my entire offensive team has had a slow start. Fielder had the power drought, Stanton power drought, Reyes can't hit, Gordon is just heating up, Ike Davis is terrible so far, Zimmerman is injured, McCutchen has no power right now, and Uggla started really slow again. Haha. Literally the only bright spot on my roster in terms of exceeding expectations has been Mauer. Thanks again for the help

I think he triumphs those numbers and I'm not a big fan. If you're looking for some SS depth, why not trade one of your OF'ers for one? Buy low on a Rollins or try to get a Peralta.

Haha. I'll admit I freaked on a slump. Will you look at my other trade and tell me what you think?
