Apalachicola FL Cabins? edited for Fishing question

We're planning a vacation and we want to combine two things - the beach and camping. But, instead of roughing it, I'm looking into staying in a cabin.
Has anybody stayed in a cabin in Apalachicola? The main place I see is Indian Pass campground. Is it any good? Any other suggestions?
And while we're discussing the area, what kind of fishing can I do from the bank? I know nothing about shore fishing. I'm not going to spend a bunch of money on new gear. I'll be taking what I have - baitcasters and spinning rods and I do have one small flyrod. I just thought it would be fun to try to catch some fish while I'm there. So, tips and advice, please.

Have a friend that stayed in Indian pass last year. Really nice house and rt across from beach. Can get details if you would like?

There are cabins on the water at the state park at Cape San Blas, but last time I checked they stayed booked.

Thanks guys. After more discussion with my wife tonight, I think we might just invest in a big, multi-roomed tent instead of renting a cabin. If we don't stay at Indian Pass, we'll probably go with St George's Island.

Beautiful place; we were just there a couple of days ago. Camped at the State Park and really liked it.

We camped in a tent there too...really nice area, but we hiked to the bay and were swarmed by mosquitoes, even with Deep Woods Off.
St. Joseph's Peninsula/Cape San Blas area and the state park there is really nice too and very secluded. Didn't fish there, but noticed a lot of people surf fishing there.

Bump
Where'd you stay on St. George Island?

Pompano are running between shore and the first sandbar . Use sand fleas and a 3oz weight. Use circle hooks too.

We camped in a tent at the state park--not the primitive area, the one with the bath house. I'm not that adventurous when I don't have to be.
St. George Island IS really pretty. I just wish it wasn't so damned far from BR. It takes us like 8 hours to get to St. Joe's, and I think another hour to get to the end of St. George Island.
