Former NFL scout: Mo Claiborne has a learning disability

Everyone I have talked to tells me that Claiborne has great character and is a great kid. He knows and understands his disability and uses all the resources that LSU has available to control it and to help him get by in the classroom. When it comes to football he puts in extra time to learn and understand his assignments and it is not a problem. Will he need reps? Probably, but no more than the usual rookie would need. In saying that, Claiborne’s test score was NOT a true indicator of his intelligence. He can and does learn.

What I suspect happened is a club drafting after 5 leaked the test score to try and scare off teams in the top 5 from drafting Claiborne.

Mike Florio breathlessly banging out a few hundred words on that this morning reeks of Guilbeau/Rosetta "I don't care if the story's good or bad, as long as I get out first & it makes people click my links" mentality.

I was in a class with Mo last year and sat right behind him. There were around 10-12 football players in the class. He sounded intelligent and was very responsible. He was the leader of all of the players in the class and they all listened to him too. He's obviously not stupid, as anyone that has heard him on an interview or has watched him play can recognize. He may have a learning disability, but it won't affect how he plays. He's always played smart, and although his Wonderlic score sucks, I'd be willing to bet that he's smarter than half of the DBs in the draft.

Put this out there now. Kenny Hilliard also struggles with a learning disability as well. He found a great tutor and has really progressed as I understand it.
So if and when you hear idiocy like this again, you'll know its not some made up excuse.
Florio should be caned in Singapore for his irresponsible journalism.

How can you judge a person's intelligence by the way they speak?

right, which is why the score surprised me. glad that there's some context to it now.
for those who've not heard Mo speak:

Are you serious?

On the WISC and the WAIS, the subtest that correlates the highest with overall IQ is vocabulary.

Well alot of the time you can gain a reasonable measure of a person's basic intelligence by their vocabulary, way they structure a sentence, clarity in the way they communicate, and logic in what they say. Obviously that isn't always the case, some incoherent mumblers are very smart and some people who speak well just have word of the day toilet paper. But it's usually a positive correlation

There is an ESPN article discussing this, and Kiper says it wont affect him. His Agent is pissed it got leaked, and one guy who did a study on wonderlic scores vs performance found that DB have an inverse relationship. He literally said the lower they score the better they play. PRO BOWL

First of all, I don't care and it's none of my business.
Whomever leaked this shouldn't feel very good about themselves, and probably wouldn't appreciate their little secrets being made public.
Secondly, Mo obviously had good enough grades to stay eligible to play at LSU. So good for him for fighting through his disability and good for LSU for having the resources to help him.
Lastly, people who gain some sort of satisfaction from this stuff have issues and should probably find other forms of entertainment.

You can certainly tell unintelligence when people speak. He doesn't come across that way is what they are saying

the rant should go after florio and make him pay for his attack on mo

oh and dont try to explain this to bama fans, the classiest fanbase in the sec would rather make fun of someone with a learning disability.
Posted on 4/3/12 at 2:37 pm to heartbreakTiger
Then they are making fun of their own players. I'm quite sure there is more than one gump player with a learning disability.

The title says it all "former scout". If he was good, he wouldn't be former, he'd be current. The former scout has the learning problem, not #17.

So, what… If the clubs know anything he is not the 1st and it will have no impact on his ability…. This has nothing to do with his actual intelligences.
