@RandyRosetta: Aaron Nola will take anti-inflam meds and a few days if rest. Mainieri said he probably won't start at Florida this weekend. #LSU

sucks but, better to be safe.

Definitely. No need to rush him back.

wonder who fla is starting?

Florida probably looks like this
Randall
Johnson
Whiston or the freshman

good to hear about Nola. Rest him up for Sunday game against Bama.
Not bad also. McCune pitched the night games last year. Also it keeps Gausman and Eades in the regular routine of a Friday and Saturday start. That way they do not have one less day this week and an extra day next week.

Yea, apparently Whitson has been hurt & is questionable for this wknd.
Like our chances w/ Gausman vs Johnson & Eades vs. rusty Whitson or the freshman (& his 5+ era)

well, if it weren't for Ott's collapse in the 9th last season, McCune would have gotten the win against Florida. His line was 7 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, throwing only 96 pitches in a ND. Pretty solid numbers. Seems like he's regained his coo since being moved to a relief role. Hopefully that got him out of his funk and he does a good job Thursday. Knew we'd end up needing him again this season. Let's hope he can redeem himself of the sophomore slump he began the year with.

Hopefully LSU forgets they're playing on the road and they win a game or two.

I think we take one for sure. With a pretty good shot at 2. I think the confidence we got from sweeping this series and getting the bats going a little bit will help tremendously.

I'd be okay with only 1 win. That's if they come home and sweep Alabama. You shouldn't expect sweeps in the SEC.. but they really should take care of Alabama.
That would put LSU at 10-5 halfway through the SEC.
20-10 PAIN TRAIN CHOO CHOO

I'd be good with that too.

I think we win 1, lose 1, with 1 being a total toss up. Each team is too good to get swept IMO

Most consecutive IPs this year?
Anybody?

I do not mind this. Suppose Nola did pitch on Sunday and gets hammered much the same Ott did two years ago over there. Look at the confidence problem that could potentially occur.
Not to say Nola couldn't beat Florida healthy or 90 percent, but better to be safe. This is THE best program as of now that we are facing this weekend and I think it's important to remember that we would have been great with 3/6 wins versus Arkansas and Florida. Whatever we get now is a great bonus, but since we are at our proverbial goal inside of these two series, with three to spare, McCune is a wise choice.
Nola needs to play against the best, but sitting against a team who is likely to take 2/3 from us anyway -- heal up and play everyone else. We're going to need this kid come May. Besides, Gausman and Eades sometimes just need 2 runs each of support and they're good. If we lose Thursday, but bounce back and win Friday...Saturday and its outcome are nearly irrelevant (hate to say it like that, but we didn't expect to be in such a great position). However, I think WE can take 2/3 from THEM.

I have no problem with McCune starting. It's nice to have options for a change
