I live close, so let me know. I'll clear all the snakes from the trail w/out using a judge.

I would always go and hike there when i was a kid. I always took it for granted. There are many more trails out there besides the azaela that I still haven't hiked or mountain biked. I always loved swimming in the clear water streams.

I did Philmont when I was 14. I don't think I will ever do any better backpacking than that. Philmont trumps all.

Freind walked in while I was looking at this and said they hiked it last weekend. Did what was suggested and dropped a vehicle on one end and went back and started on the other.
Said there is alot of standing water and the mosquitos were very bad.

IIRC 14 is the minimum age for philmont. So we have three more years for my oldest. we stopped there and toured the house and museum two years ago while vacationing in the area. Can't wait to go with the scouts.

If this place is like it was 25 years ago, don't even think about going the speed limit through this town. Our church camp was there and every week the local police would see how many traffic tickets they could give to church buses.

It is. It's a speed trap; only now there's more cops.

I need to do this soon. I bet it would only take half a day if it's fairly high.

The carrying of the canoe around lay down trees.

oh yea. Ive gone from my place to lecompte when the water was high. Only had to get out twice, but the limbs were bad. I did it in a little boat similiar to what I have now. 14' with an 8hp. Think I would rather do it when its cold and high. I rode up on a nice buck like that.
Ive been north past those camps we talked about. Not sure how much further it is, but imagine its a good piece.

Going down has fewer trees than going up. We started at Twin Bridges.

How far is it from those camps to twin bridges?
With the water high, I was able to go over most trees and around a few that we're still showing.
