Kaman Update from Aldridge

Chris Kaman, Hornets Potential suitors: Unknown The Hornets remain determined to move Kaman by Thursday, according to a source involved in the discussions. His expiring contract is manna for any number of teams who could use a top-10 center with a chip on his shoulder. Atlanta would make sense, even as a two-month rental; the Hawks need a center with Al Horford out at least until the end of the regular season, and they have their own expiring contract in guard Kirk Hinrich. They would make more sense if the Hawks had no intention of re-signing Kaman in July; Atlanta is terrified of getting anywhere close to the tax threshold. Dallas is never out of the picture, especially with the Mavericks' injuries up front, but Dallas doesn't have expiring contracts it would be willing to give up.

Would they give up Hinrich and something we want, though? Otherwise, we could let Kaman expire.

My thoughts exactly. We should only give up Kaman if we getting something in return. No sense letting the Hawks or any other team get better unless it benefits us.

If we're definitely not gonna re-sign him, I'd be okay with trading him for Atlanta's #1, but I still think we can get more from somewhere.

Yeah I don't like that trade at all unless we get more than just Hinrich. It doesn't make us any better immediately or in the future. Might as well hold on to him unless we can get a draft pick or young player.

I'd rather give him to Indiana for a 2nd than swap expirings with someone else for a 2nd. Then Demps can do a Nick Collison contract with someone. Maybe extend Jack or Ariza to reduce their cap hit. Even if they don't stick with the team long term reducing their cap number makes them more tradeable.

Hinrich alone doesn't work salary wise and the Hawks don't have the types of salaries to make them match right in a Hinrich trade. I just think this is more silliness from NBA writers with nothing solid to report.

To trade with Atlanta, we'd need to take on Hinrich and they'd need to ship out an additional $4 million in current salary.
The best fit, financially, is Zaza Pachulia, but he's going nowhere.
They may need to find a taker for Marvin Williams if they want Kaman because we don't need his deal. 2 years remaining after this one and he's a big defensive liability.

Kaman and Aminu for Hinrich and Marvin Will works.

I know you hate Aminu, but taking on Williams' contract is not an improvement.

he's got 2 years remaining and produces better and aminu has three years and produces shite.

For $7-8 million a year, he'd better be more than our 6th man.

If you want to straight dump Aminu you can probably do it without taking back a bigger contract. And next season is the only season they are committed to pay him, it's a team option after that. So MW with 2 more years at $7.5 million or Aminu for 1 more year at $3 million.

I just thought we could get back the player we once desired. Let me post my frick off Aminu idea and let me eat my cheetos.

Your Aminu hate is making you irrational.

You use WE way too liberally there. Who, exactly, wanted Marvin Williams?

Well . . . I did when he came out of college.
