Anybody giving this a shot tonight? Based on the pick of Palin as VP on the ticket. 8:00 HBO

Watched it. Typical HBO left-sided take on what happened. Leftist hacks will enjoy it though.

I think it was right on and I'm a Republican. Palin is a fricking imbecile......

Im a independent who leans more left than right and I found it enjoyable. They definetly made her seem uber power hungry. I wonder how realistic that might have been. I found McCain calm and collected. His character was almost stoic in the movie. All in all its just a movie. I thought it was entertaining.
The reality still stands Sarah Palin is a fricking moron.

Is it supposed to be based off the book or just the Palin part?

You can't possibly believe what you posted can you? You think anything in the film was untrue? Do you not think McCain's people were second guessing themselves? It actually was largely sympathetic to Palin.

You guys do realize that you are not exactly in the mainstream of American taste, right?

There's a lot of things wrong with America.
But I refuse to believe that Bill Maher represents the mainstream.

That book has been out for three years and do you know how many libel suits have been filed by McCain, Palin, Clinton, Edwards, etc.?
ZERO
They haven't even attempted to refute anything from the book, which is much more detailed than the movie. Why do you think that is?

Possibly because they know that piece of toilet paper wasn't bought by anyone who would ever consider voting for them anyway. To bring up a lawsuit would make it "news" and actually help the author sell more copies. It's better to just let it fade in to obscurity, sitting on the shelves of die hard leftest and the author's moms house.

From all indications, it was pretty spot on. Nobody has come out to refute anything, and like someone said the book has been out for a few years now. Hell, the lady Bush aid that became Palin's main aid (the one that couldn't even bring herself to vote) was at the premiere and talked about how it truly got the behind the scene story.
Leftwingers are going to think she's nuts regardless, but anybody who isn't a right wing hack knows that she was in no way shape or form ready to be VP, and probably will never be.
What I found interesting in the film is that it showed how human she was. It wasn't her fault she really didn't know much, it was the campaign's fault for picking basically an ordinary mom. And, towards the end how it became more about her than the campaign itself.
The book covered the Democratic campaigns as well, BTW.

I thought it was pretty accurate from what I've heard and read.
She is basically a woman who 2 weeks earlier was walking and riding rides with her daughters at a Carnival in Alaska. You couldn't even do that in Louisiana so its kind of hard for us to comprehend that.
On top of that she had just had a special needs kid a few months earlier, had a teenage daughter that was pregnant, and a son who literally just shipped out to Iraq. I'm not sure very many of us would be able to handle that much less the added pressure of being chosen as VP.
Obviously she wasn't ready to be VP but I blame the campaign way more than her for putting her in that position. In the end I think it's ridiculous how much people hate her for basically just fighting back.
Also, I find it interesting that HBO decided to edit the "60 minutes" interview with Schmidt to fit the agenda. After he says you don't get do overs, he goes on to say that McCain would have lost by more without her and his job was to give political advice.

I liked it. Was everything I expected it to be. I was scared shitless on the idea she might become VP. Also thought julianne Moore and ed harris did a tremendous job
