I know of Vega Tapas on Metairie Rd. Any other good tapas restaurants in NOLA?

Mimi's in the Marigny
also many places have "small plates" which are in effect Tapas.
Melange is a place I highly recommend.
Barcelona on Magazine is supposed to be good, but I personally have not tried it.
Baru is also in that area

I assume Barcelona is Spanish food. What about Melange? What kind of food do they have? Mimi's? Is it all the same type of food? This will be my first time to a Tapas restaurant.

Not a true Tapas restaurant, but Le Meritage offers all items as a small plate or big plate.

They all have a nice variety..
Melange isn't a Tapas place but you can treat it like one by ordering from the small plates.
Mimi's hot Tapas
cold tapas
The thing about Tapas, is rather than go to one spot do the original Spanish thing and move around. Maybe start uptown grab a plate or two and make your way to the Marigny.
Tapas themselves are a Spanish concept but it doesn't have to be Spanish food.

What about Three Muses...have you tried that one? Looks like a good menu and a quaint little place

Baru on Magazine is really good. It's BYOB. I haven't been there in a few months, but I assume it's still up to par.

For Japanese Tapas go for Little Tokyo or Yuki
Spanish Tapas that no one has mentioned yet include Lola, Barcelona, and I'm sure a few others.
Mondo has some decent tapas plates
I would consider Boucherie to fall under this umbrella as well

I like Rambla, it went downhill for a bit then they closed, got a new chef and we ate there at the beginning of February. I thought it was excellent, but I was also half in the bag.

I second Rambla suggestion. Went last week very good.

Mimi's and Baru are my two favorite. Both have excellent food, atmosphere, and prices. I ended up at Mimi's after a long night of Krewe du Vieux and ordered every hot tapa that they had available (2 dishes were out) and a bottle of wine without breaking the bank. Can't beat that for a late night snack.

I like Mimi's too, but its kinda isolated.
On Frenchmen you have 3 Muses, 13, Melange, and Mission all with small plates, and all within a block from each other.

Be advised that they charge an $8 corkage fee PER BOTTLE of wine. And yes, that includes if you have a group of 6+ and each person brings a bottle. It's not one fee for the table.
frick that place.

That's pretty steep
Still cheaper than buying it at the place but it's close enough to where it pretty much defeats the purpose

Exactly. Hell, C'est La Vie doesn't charge a corkage fee. Neither does August (IIRC).
When I lived in NYC I went to many many BYOB places and NONE of them do either.
I actually called and spoke to the manager of Baru the day after our party got rung the frick up with bottle fees and he was pretty goddamn disinterested in my polite and thoughtful suggestion to perhaps enhance his business. Just gave me a "well that's our policy" spiel.
