Tim Duncan would re-work his contract if Okafor came to San Antonio. For Duncan, having Okafor coming to play alongside him in his twilight years, would be similar to how things ended for David Robinson. To make things most similar, Duncan and Okafor would have to piece together a championship, as Robinson and Duncan did twice-one of those being in Robinson’s last season.

I don't really see what we would want from them. I do not want Jefferson's contract. Maybe a
3-team deal.

Contracts don't match up, but that would be a good start. Jefferson would have to be added, but I don't want that guy's contract at all.

can't imagine spurs giving up splitter. I think it would be a salary dump for hornets for like richard jefferson and johnny dipshit.

This would be an off-season deal where they amnesty Jefferson, Duncan re-signs cheaply and they move one player or maybe less w/ a 1st most likely (would depend on what Duncan signs for) to get Oak.

holy shite that may be the most awesome jacket ever

1) Oak is not a young tim duncan. shite he's not even that young. so the comparison to duncan being big rob and oak being tim is not good on timmy's part.

2) i would take just a pick or maybe one or two young players to get rid of his contract and keep kaman.

3) WHERE CAN I FIND THAT JACKET

This move is mainly because of Ayon's development. It would Move Okafor's contract and also place Ariza on the market

Same length as Oak for $3M less per year. Jefferson would be more useful on this squad, too.

To get Okafor to SA, we would have to get a team with cap room involved (i.e. Pacers or King) to take a contract from SA for a future 2nd round pick. We would not want Jefferson and any other combination would include too many players for us to absorb. Would love Splitter and Leonard, but SA would be nuts to do that IMO.

That actually seems realistic if the Spurs really think Okafor is the guy that can extend the Duncan/Parker/Manu window.

Say what? Ayon is a PF, not a Center. And I think fans want to dump Ariza way more than Demps and Monty do.

Jefferson more useful on Hornets than Okafor? No way. I would take the defensive center over the washed up swing any day.

Yeah we save $3M a year, but I'm not sure Jefferson starts over Ariza at this point. If this is only option, which it prob isn't then I'd rather just keep Okafor.

Considering our lack of depth at the swing position, yes he is. Center is a position of strength on the team AND in the upcoming draft. Neither of them are particularly good investments for the long-term success of the franchise, but one is about 20-25% cheaper.

You're not going to get a big Monty trade rape with Okafor. He is just not that good and is paid too much.

And who does Okafor start over? I am certain Jefferson won't start, but that's not the point. The only reason to trade Okafor is for cap relief. Nobody is going to give up a bunch of talent for him.

Okafor is the clear starter when he is healthy. Jefferson and his contract would just be sitting on the bench. Not sure that a $3M savings is worth that. Besides Okafor will be easier to move than Jefferson's because he is a big man.

Agreed.

Just worked it out in the NBA TM, trade Oak for RJ and Green. Saved about $2 mil.

Complete wishful thinking on SAS part I would imagine.

We are trading Kaman almost certainly, not Okafor.

And SAS has nothing to offer us that we would want and they would be willing to part with (ie Splitter).

I don't see it.

Unless it is a great trade, I'm for keeping Okafor. There aren't many better centers than him out there, and you aren't going to get one of them to come to NO for any less than we are paying Okafor. I don't think we "dump" Okafor.

I could see it, if we sign Kaman to an extension and draft Drummond.

A big "HELL NO" if it includes swapping Jefferson for Oak.
