Or one loss. See: Miles, Les. LSU fans are extremely fickle.

If LSU had scored 22 points then no one would want Miles fired and most here would love him.

If the sun crashes into the earth we will all hate the scientist for not telling us.

A coach is as good as his last win or lost if he's on the hotseat.

Right, and "if" we hit a few more shots at the beginning or State doesn't hit 7 or their 1st 8 or whatever, we don't even the Hickey runner at the end.

Playing the "if" game is little more that a waste of time.

How bout we just be happy with the win over a NR team, being 15-10 after 2 seasons of 20 loses, and the fact me might see post season play for the 1st time in almost 3 years.

It's amazing how suppose to be Tiger fans seem to love to find ways to crap on stuff you would think they would be happy bout.

i am just real. the football program is in great shape. the basketball program is in bad shape, but it is approaching being mediocre. take a look at the fan support in the stands and you have your answer.

Iron clad logic

Because "fans" don't show up at the game, the basketball program is in "bad shape".

Hate to break it to you, but there is no correlation between fan support and the relative standing of a basketball program.

According to Springlake Tiger, our program was obviously in "bad shape" at that time.

sorry dude, i grew watching the Chris Jackson, Shaq era. lsu was a national program at that time and that is what we should aspire to be at lsu, a top 25 program year in and year out, being relevant and exciting would work well enough for me. in the late 80s/early 90s, the PMAC was always full.

The same could be said in the opposite manner for the football team.

If this team splits the remaining sched and goes to he NIT it would be a substantially better season than last year, when we won 11 games, fyi....

Im hoping we can run the table now that we finally get to play some of the weaker opponents in sec... We went 5-6 so far against the likes of ala, ark, miss st, fl, kentucky, vanderbilt, ole piss and aubie... Now we finish with S carolina, ga, tenn, ole piss and aubie again, all of whom we have a way better chance of beating

I agree in principle that we should strive to be a consistent top 25 team. We're capable of that. I think most people are excited about the direction of the program. We may not make the tourney this year, but we have a strong chance of making it the next two years.

Just be happy that it appears we're headed in the direction we both want for the program.

And WTF do we, as a program, have to show for those "glory days?"

From 1955-1991 we had FOUR conference champions. FOUR. Our Glory era consists of making the Final Four twice between 1981-1986. We did make the NCAA Tournament every year between 1984-1993, but is that really something to stick your chest out about? For 9 straight years we were one of the 64 best teams in the country?

That is pathetic and you people who have some distorted view of our history as a basketball program really need to wake up. We have never been a basketball school. Ever. Sure we've had ups and downs, but my point is our "ups" were never that amazing to begin with.

This is the problem with our basketball fanbase. You think we are entitled to some great measure of success and that all the national champion coaches would love to come coach here. That just isn't reality. Sorry.

So you're telling me that LSU's short list wouldn't be:

1. Coach K
2. John Calipari
3. Roy Williams

When TJ gets fired?

It's the very nature of the fanatic. Don't you think the same thing occurs after 1 loss?

I like this better than the fire Trent threads after losing to ranked teams on the road.

then everyone wants Trent fired. B/c that didn't happen, now everyone is talking about being on the Trent wagon and the NCAA resume.

Reality check. The program is bottom tier in the SEC with little fan support, except for some of the dorkiest students on campus. This team likely splits the remaining schedule and loses in the first round of the NIT.

What's really amazing is some people's use of the word, "everyone."
Want a real "reality check"? If LSU gets to the NIT that would be a huge turnaround from the past two seasons. They have beaten two teams that legitimately could make tourney runs this year in Marquette and MSU. This team is improved. Ain't it amazin'?

no it was not, corporations bought up a lot of the tickets. the middle level was never full. the upper was. The corporate sponsors wouldn't get the fan's in the seats.

i went to just about every game. i could remember thinking, wow, we have the best player in the country (jackson then oneal), we only have the place 3/4 full.

Then why not just shut the whole thing down? If we not only can't be a great program, but it's "pathetic" even to want one, then what the frick are we wasting money and time on basketball for?

I hate the whole "we aren't supposed to be good so it's OK if we suck" contingent of our fan base. It's that mentality that's pathetic.

In 1983, someone like you probably would have said the same thing about baseball that you are saying now about basketball. Hell, in 1999 they were saying it about football, too. I absolutely HATE that attitude.
