re: The OT Spartacus Workout and All Things Fitness Thread

That's just it. All of this stuff is tough. You have to start somewhere. I recommend that you start something free like Spartacus and then jog or sprint on the inbetween days. Once you finish this program, change it up. Move on to something harder like Insanity or Asylum.

Always keep pushing yourself. You'll never experience your goals if you expect it to be easy.

For example, my friend and I push ourselves to the point of near puking. That may be extreme, but that's how hard we push. You don't have to go that hard to experience results, but we've been hitting hard for over 2 years straight, so at this point we're always craving more intensity!

If you start a good workout, you'll hate it for about 2 weeks. You'll always try to find an excuse for not doing the workout. However, if you just keep pushing for 2 weeks, your body will all of the sudden start to crave workouts. You'll feel guilty if you don't workout. You'll feel guilty if you eat an unhealthy meal.

The first 2 weeks are key! You want to brainwash your body and brain into craving workouts. Once you reach that point, you've already won...regardless how your body looks. It will change.

Why is it you have had better results from spart than p90? Better results as far as muscle size and density or just cutting more fat and getting ripped?

I didn't get Insanity, Asylum, or P90X for free. I purchased Insanity. My friend bought Asylum. And another friend bought P90X. Now we have all three.

As far as Spartacus is concerned, it works your larger muscle groups far more than P90X, which means that you're going to burn more calories and jumpstart your metabolism faster. P90X is great. It works. But Spartacus achieves what P90X tries to achieve in a third of the time.

The great thing about Spartacus is that you can add more workouts to the existing plan. Therefore, you can tailor it to keep it frest and exciting. Plus, you can increase your dumbbell weight and all of the sudden it kicks your arse again.

Spartacus is an intense cardio and strength workout. Download or print the Spartacus workout here:

Spartacus workout

Try it tonight and then post on this thread your reaction. Make sure to have your dumbbells ready.

Just did chest shoulders and tris last night so I should probably wait a day until I start. What weights/reps would you recommend. Same weight for all exercises or gauge them to be able to do about 15-20 reps per lift?

Good thread.

Just getting back into working out so I started with the ABS Diet circuit routine to ease back into it from a full body perspective....as well as cardio.

Once I'm "back into shape" (although round is a shape...FYI), I may transition to Spartacus to trim my fatass up.

One more question involving the Spartacus workout, is there a good app or anything else that makes for a good timer that will reset itself so I won't have to fool with worrying about that while on the verge of puking in between stations?

How in the world can anyone besides elite sprinters differentiate their 40 to 50 to 60% of top speed? For me, there's only walk, jog, kinda fast, and then running from the cops fast.

re: The OT Spartacus Workout and All Things Fitness Thread

Good question.

I just found a generic free timer app and went with it. I set it to 60 seconds for the workout and then when that time expires, i give myself no more than 30 seconds rest. I believe that Spartacus recommends 15 seconds rest between workouts, but sometimes that is unrealistic. You don't want to die. You don't want your heart to explode.

Trust me, your heart rate will be elevated! If you become dizzy or can't control your breathing, take a break and then get back into it when you've calmed down your body. But, don't rest too long or you'll cool down and then the rest of the workout will be terrible until you hit your second wind. Once again...a fine line.

Didn't even occur to me that people did dead start and stop full out sprint's on treadmills. Seems dangerous to be going 100% like that

Isn't it harder to get ripped though since, like you said, it works your larger muscle groups?
