Do them at home. Tony's sell them. Boil them just like crawfish, but in half the seasoning. If only doing a few, boil inside on stove in pot filled with water to cover. Season with one lb Louisianna crawfish boil powder. Bring to boil, put crabs in. WHen come back to boil cut it off. Soak 12 minutes then pull. Do 2-3 lb of Dungeonous or snows per person at $9.99 a lb. King crabs are a lot higher.

If you're ever over in the Slidell area the Jourdan River Steamer in Kiln MS, north on the 2nd MS exit, has excellent steamed crabs, lobster, and shrimp.

One of the casinos has them on the buffet I think. Don't know about real restaurants. You can get them at Sam's, Albertson's...lots of places. They are cooked and flash frozen so all you have to do is steam them up to temp. No need to boil and or season.

And Red Lobster probably has some too.

King Buffet (and other Chinese buffet places) used to serve it on their dinner buffet. I haven't been there in a while so I'm not sure if they still have it.

Don't know of a restaurant serving them off hand, but I do them at home. I either steam them so they don't get overcooked or water logged or grill them. The grilled king crab legs are right tasty. (I've never eaten snow crab.) I cut the shell so the meat is exposed and brush seasoned butter on the meat. Then, I put them meat side down on the grill, just long enough to heat and get a little char of sorts. Really good. You could use olive oil or clarified butter as well.

Gris, do you let them thaw before warming on the grill?

Again, I don't understand people boiling them as they are already cooked. Seems like a big watery mess.

I have boiled them many times and have never ever had a watery mess or anything close to that. If you do them correctly they come out great.

Water drains out of snow crab extremely easy. There should never be water in the shells.

Gotcha. You boil just to get the crab boil into them I guess?

Yea you get the seasoning and the great thing about boiling is that since they are done when they float you have a very easy indicator of exactly when they are cooked. So it never overcooks and come out of the shell perfect. Only takes like 5-6 min once the water is heated up.

By the time I've cut to expose the meat and brushed them, they're pretty thawed out. They thaw quickly.

The only reason to boil them, for me, is if you want to have them in seasoned water for a bit to get that flavor. I don't really like them with crab boil flavor, myself, so I see no need to boil. I only steam to warm them and freshen them up a bit, but you can just as easily do that in the microwave in a glass dish, with a wee bit of water in the bottom, covered in plastic wrap with a few holes punched in it. Works fine.

Anyone ever try the Alton Brown technique of putting them in the microwave? .

You can get them AYCE at the Red Maple in Gretna every Tuesday night and they're very good.

But if you can get in, just go buy some wholesale at Restaurant Depot and do it yourself.

I liked Joes BBQ crab, its not real BBQ they season the legs in a mixture of seasonings and then fry it. It was my first job in BR, and I used to eat the hell out of it. I can't stand bolied legs. I usually throw a couple of boxes into my crawfish boil when I do it.

Just curious, did they list those as Stone Crabs or Dungeness Crabs. I'm asking because I've seen them mislabeled before.
