Did Bama show how to beat HB7?

I do not expect HB7 to have a very good year next year because Bama showed how to neutralize his effectiveness in a game.
1. NEVER punt the ball anywhere near him, even if you punt out of bounds
2. Throw to your tallesst receiver and put it out of his reach.

He's going to have a good year because he is a great player. It may not be up to par with the idiots on this site, but nothing ever is.
1..not punting to him could lead to great field position for us. That's to our advantage.
2..if he's not covering their tallest WR then they can't just throw it up to a TM7 covered WR.

Is that assuming Chavis makes no adjustments to utilize TM7 or at least keep him out of those situations?

No. UT did in terms of passing.
Not punting to him was demonstrated by Arky and UGA because they DID and got burned.

HB7 will not be our lock down corner. I am guessing that designation will go to Simon.
HB should be a nickleback.

Posters on this site love to bash cornerbacks. Peterson was talked about all year on this board when passes were completed on him. Guess what, great throw beat great coverage every time.

TM7 is not a cover corner.
He is Troy P in a small-body; great ball instincts, but he will never be a Mo Claiborne as far as coverage.
If he can be used as a nickel back or safety, you maximize his ball-hawking skills.
But some of you guys went all-hog-wild this season thinking his skill set including lights-out coverage skills.
It doesn't.

He's more useful here, more versatility for sure.

The WR had a step on him.... the difference was the throws.... McCarron put the ball in the perfect position nearly every time.... something he had not done all year... but on THAT night, he did.
TM7 made several good plays and tackles... he just didn't have a "game changer" so some "fans" think he had a poor game.
Alcohol effects peoples view of the game and their memory of it afterward.

We stayed in press man to man coverage the whole time, they were running slant outs and the QB was dropping it in there perfectly. HB was late to turn his head and locate the ball. His pure coverage skills arent the greatest imo but he is good at that. His best attribute is he's a great tackler and a phenomenal playmaker.

100% this.
I thought he played a nice game. Came up and played good run support, and got beat by basically indefensible throws. It happens.

My. God.
HONEY BADGER CANNOT BE STOPPED.
Andre Debose Florida WR is 6' 0". He was intercepted by HB7 in the endzone on a pass "over his head"
Mathieu can cover, make no mistake about that.

Isn't that the formula to beat every corner "throw where only the wr can catch it".
You're fkn smart. Thumbs up!
