Miles being arrogantly hard head is one reason.

The other reason, he didn't want to piss off Jefferson's brother. Saban wants him as bad as we do.

Miles felt "honored" to play that quarterback Jefferson against that team again.

And you're a fool if you believe that Miles stuck with Jefferson because they liked his mobility, even thought they never rolled him out once all game to try and take advantage of it.

There is absolutely, 100% something that went on between Miles and Lee that we don't know about. He isn't just not playing Lee for fun.

LeS actually kicked the guy at Shady's and JJ took the fall. ;)

Wow, that is quite an opus. Miles stayed with JJ because Miles has too much character?

You realize that JL was not the only other QB on the sideline. If you watched the game you also know that JJ played about as bad as a QB can play and that we had no chance to win that game with him "triggering" the offense.

If there really was some reason that Miles could not put JL in the game, he could have tried one of his other highly recruited options.

Miles stayed with JJ out of pure stubbornness. He heard the fans booing and refused to let them get what they wanted...which was some semblance of a chance to win the game. He stuck with JJ not out of high character, but out of a lack of character.

He played favorites at the expense of every other player on our team. Shame on Miles for that.

Noone knows, at this time, but it apparently is
something very serious for Miles to let a sizable
raise in pay go by without trying all his options.
It may go beyond the scope of simple talent and ability.

Lee was never going to play.

There was a fallout between not just Lee and Miles, but Lee and the team. Not necessarily any collection of individuals on the team, but on the team as a whole. Maybe the class rumors were true, maybe it was something else. However, it was clear that Lee was never going in that game. Miles was not going to play him.

In my opinion, based off of Miles' character, Lee didn't deserve to be in the game as a result of something he did. Something that was more important than winning and losing. Some sort of selfish act that could have been a betrayal to the team. Would Saban have played Lee? You know it. But Miles is Miles, and he's going to do things his way. It's his program. And I love him for that.

Miles proved by not playing T-Bob and Shepard that he wasn't playing favorites. If Lee didn't see the field, there was a behind-the-scenes reason for it. Maybe Miles was actually protecting Lee by not releasing this reason. I guess we'll never really know for sure. Miles did what he thought was right, and that is the one thing that I won't question. Not about this man.

My thoughts EXACTLY.

There is only one other scenario to go along with this, and I don't think it has been mentioned. I believe Miles is a man of his word to his own detriment, at least tries to be. I believe he made some promises to JJ and his family during the recruiting process. Maybe something to the effect of how he was so confident in JJ the he would guarantee that he would play as long as he gave LSU a chance to win. Probably didn't have the same type of recruitment as Lee. I know Lee's dad was very involved in Lee coming to LSU, and maybe the differences in the two relationships is why he always leaned toward JJ. I don't know ANY of the details surrounding the recruiting of these two, but it would make sense to me if that had some influence over things as well as how they both have functioned on the team, on and off the field.

FIFY

The biggest thing (out of the undefeated season on the line, national title on the line, etc.) to me is that Miles was looking at a multi million dollar raise dead in the eyes, and did absolutely nothing with the qb rotation. That right there sifts through all the bullshite and tells me that there was something behind the scenes going on with Jefferson. I can't be convinced otherwise. I'm just glad he's gone now. I've always felt like Miles had 1 arm tied behind his back the whole season.

Didn't read all the responses, but this is an easy question. JJ gave us a better chance of winning against Bama. JL's success this year was against mediocre defenses with little to no pass rush. When JL has time and no pressure he is very effective. However if there is the slightest bit of pressure he begins to panic. How many of you have held your breath when there is a pass rush and JL throws off his back foot. JJ escape ability opens it up a bit for us and adds that element to create more time for WR's to break open..

Oh and JL' stats against Bama - 1 TD to 7 Ints. This is a no brainer. The coaches picked the best of the worst basically...

That was really obvious during the first 8 games of the season when we had something that actually resembled a college football level offense for the first time in years. The line didn't block, the running backs were laying down, and the receivers? They obviously hated playing with a QB that could actually get them the ball. Yeah, the team was totally dysfunctional when JL was in. If there was anything there, it was when the cancer returned.

To preempt racial division on the team dominated by black players. There, I said it.
