I really like it. Ripping all my DVD's to an external HD on my desktop and I'll be able to access them though the home sharing of itunes. Plus when I'm too lazy to get off my couch and go to red box i can just rent or buy a movie.

Just got one of these myself. Pretty cool stuff but just starting to learn all the things I can do with it. Wasnt aware I could copy all my movies to the laptop and watch them that way. Gonna have to check that out. Any other cool tips?

You have to be a little tech savvy (or get someone tech savvy to help you) but I highly recommend you "jailbreak" it and install XBMC.

The interface is incredible and highly customizable and the add-ons available are amazing. For example you can install an icefilms add-on that lets you stream all the movies/tv shows from that site.

I second the jailbreak.

I want to buy one, since I just got rid of netflix streaming. Will make watching movies and tv shows easier to the TV. Although if I stopped being lazy, and finished the man cave, I could just hook the computer up to the tv.

I think you can install Plex also if you jailbreak it. A better interface than XBMC IMHO.

However, both are nice.

Plex doesn't have an icefilms plug in I don't think.

I jail broke my apple tv and it's amazing now. I added icefilms via xbmc and I added navi-x

lol. I got one too!

I'm loving it so far. Going to do the same thing with my itunes library. Have a machine with an external hard drive that I will store all my movies on.

I got one earlier in the year and dumped my Xbox (as a media center extender) shortly thereafter. I assume you are using the iPad or iPhone remote app to control it?

I bought mine right after the new model came out and love it. I do just that, store all our movies and stream to AppleTV.
