Do you guys think we see that in the BCSNC game? If we want to run their LB's from side to side, this should be thrown in with the option.
what are some other ways we can attack the edges and tire down their LB's?

it is called a JET SWEEP and yes we should incorporate it with our speed options.

That was such an integral part of Crowtonball, I think CLM made Stud tear that page out of the playbook this year

yep because most of our jet sweeps we ran were with JL as QB and not JJ. WIth JJ we can get RS going in motion opposite the side we run the speed option to. mix it up. horizontally stretch them. It is a good idea. JJ can read the D while he is in motion and make a decision which way to go, either with the jet sweep or speed option.

My bad, I haven't seen it in so long I forgot the name. Maybe that's why they haven't called it, they just forgot ha!
That play seemed to always be very effective so I don't really understand why we don't see it that much. Oh well, I trust Stud and Krags.

We ran that play frequently last year and it rarely worked. Maybe with a a more diversified offense it can be worked into the mix now, but based on 2010, I understand why we haven't run it this year.

If I have anything to complain about which I shouldn't it would be this. Why don't we ever use this with shep

We have run it a few times with Shep this year, but not nearly as much as the past couple of seasons. We seem to pick up 10-15 yards when it is run.I keep expecting to see it in games, but it is rarely run.

With the fast surface in the Superdome, I would hope we would use it at least once. Shep had a big play on the jet sweep against Bama last year. I expect our offense to look a lot like it did in the Arkansas game - Shotgun 3 wr's, a lot of read option stuff. With this gameplan, the jet sweep would be a possible play call.

I would like to try HB7 in the backfield for 2 or 3 plays and pitch to him (ala Ford) to see what happens. Ford is good too, I have no problem with him, just think he could break one!

I don't know if he can throw the ball any, but if they can give him a play like that...he would have a great start for next year's Heisman Trophy...

And we could try Shep at DE. Imagine how fast he could get around blocks. Then we could put JJ at cornerback. A 6'6", even Megatron wouldn't be able go up over him for the ball.

And why haven't we tried Brockers at qb? The defense wouldn't expect that.

we desperately need to work in the halfback screen. Teams almost always send pressure when we are in obvious passing situations and the screen would be a prefect counter to the pressure. Also its a high percentage throw and we have the backs and lineman for it.

I remember seeing this the first couple games this year, haven't seen it since.

I don't expect to see it at all for the BCSNC

This.

We have run it effectively on several occasions this year. I can think of a couple of times where it was limited to a couple of yards, but most often for around 10. Just haven't seen it in a few weeks.

Maybe it'll surface against Bama. I like the idea because I do think it will be important to run those big defenders sideline to sideline.

We ran it once versus Bama and it got shutdown. Last season, Shep almost scored on that play. I would love to see it at least twice in this game. Most of the time we get 10-15 like another poster stated.

Why don't we get the ball to shep more? Because it seems to get out offense off schedule when we go off script. Our basic run offense and pass plays have worked well for us. I do however think we started running more counter plays towards the back end of the season and they have eating up chunks of yards with that play.

IMO this is a big reason why our qb stats have been doen in recent years. We rarely ever run these types of plays and they are good for big yardage if used effectively.
