What if the Knicks never really come together and we make a trade based around Paul and Okafor for Amare and Chandler?
Since our team is currently complete garbage we would probably also finish with a top 4 pick in the draft.

I think it's possible. The Knicks apparently offered us Amare or considered doing it. I'm thinking they're willing to give him up for CP. The rockets want big man and want to clear cap space to sign Nene and they do both here. It's just like the Lakers trade except we don't get a Lamar odom type and the Rockets get a even better player

well they're getting Fields and probably draft picks. I can't say if Stern would approve it or not because I don't know the real reasons why he turned down the other offers. But I could see Demps pursuing this.

you don't think they'd give up fields and Amare for Paul? I could see them doing it. plus, you could send courtney lee or possibly some other young player on the rockets to the knicks to sweeten the deal if they need.
