The West Wing. As far as dialogue is concerned I don't think there is one. Plot and story wise there may be some stronger but I can't think of any show that has a better combination of both.

West Wing is my favorite show and I'm a Sorkin acolyte. Won't get any argument out of me.

Really need to watch this. Once school is out for Christmas I'll probably start it.

This plus the casting that was done for the major characters (Martin Sheen, Bradley Whitford, etc) made this the greatest drama on TV. Can't think of many that were better before or since.

This was going to be my contribution as well.

Second to The Wire and Arrested Development.
Have to add A Game of Thrones as well. Even if you don't like fantasy, the sheer size of the show is impressive, and the dialogue is amazing. Also, the plots in that show (and the books) are, in my opinion, better than The West Wing.

I think the fact that Sorkin (ssn 1-4) was able to do a drama and a comedy in the same show and have everything go seamless is pure brilliance. He is second to none when it comes to writing.

Arrested Development and Archer both slaughter it with dialogue.
