Right off the top of my head

Leupold Vari x III
Nikon Monarch

Here you go

And the Monarch
Higher power then you wanted, but you get the idea. I would go with the leupold.

I will probably catch a lot of crap for this but oh well. I have a swift scope that is the best scope for the money. Go to swift.com and check em out. Lifetime warranty. I have the 3x9x40 and LOVE IT

That depends on your definition of "a lot".

I'm in the market for a new scope, but staying around the 200 dollar range.

Looking at the Nikon Prostaff. Buddy has the Monarch and Prostaff and said there is not much of a difference.

Looking at Sightron and Nikon primarily.

Leupold Vari x III

By far, best scope for the price. I have the Vari x II and my dad has the III. They are the best scope, not named swavorsky(sp) or Zeiss

Have a Vari-x 1 now. Cabela's has some pretty good deals on Leupold scopes right now.

I have a couple of Zeiss Conquests and I have shot my dad's VXIII a lot this summer. For a "middle of the pack" scope, the VXIII is a hell of a deal. I would put one my rifle and never look back.

Can't go wrong with the Monarch or VX III. Both solid scopes. I have Nikon binoculars and a Nikon rangefinder that I like so I went with the Monarch on my 270wsm and have been pleased. Eventually I'll bite the bullet and get a Zeiss or Swarovski, but I kind of like my current setup right now.

For the guy looking in the 200 dollar range, I have a Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9x50 on my 270. Pretty good scope for the price, which I think was 250 about 5 years ago. I don't know what they cost now though. Can't be much different.

I haven't looked at them recently, but the basic 3x9x40 Zeiss scopes are right around that price range. I have two of them and my dad has three, and they have performed extremely well. I've never been impressed with Nikon. Personally, if I were going to go cheaper than the Zeiss I would go with Leupold.

Leupold rifleman if you wanna hang around $200. I have two and I love em. Adjustments are repeatable and the glass is great.

It you wanna approach $500, get a leupold vx-III.

I have a couple of Zeiss Conquest scopes, 3-9x40 (one black, one silver). I also have several Nikon Monarchs 3-9x40. I am actually thinking of selling/trading the Zeiss for some more monarchs. The reason is that the power adjustment direction is reversed and I'm always turning it the wrong way on the Zeiss. I would like to have them all the same.

I hinted at it before. After shooting both the zeiss and vxIII extensively over the past 3 months I would buy the leupold. I am not overly impressed with the brightness and clarity of the conquest although they have held zero.
