Obviously we all know what JJ was trying to do (just ground it) but if I remember right JC Copeland was right there in the line trying to block. If true that shouldnt have been intentional grounding. Did anyone else see that?

I saw a QB get hit in the head. Should have been automatic first down.

It was called correctly. Stupid play by JJ, poor OL blocking and stupid play call with JJ in the game (his release is too slow).

I'd say just wait until JJ hit in the head excuse by his nuthuggers comes in, but topwatertrout proved it didn't even take a second.

He was pretty much wrapped up and just flung it. That will always be called intentional grounding.

Either way, he should have thrown it away when he saw his receiver in bracket coverage.

There were 4 eligible receivers within 5 yards of where the ball landed.

I saw a QB do what he's always done, struggle to know where to throw the ball. If you can't pull the trigger and hit the WR, throw out of bounds to avoid the sack.

I was at ground level behind Jefferson on that play. When LSU lined up in formation, I could see that LSU had only one wide reveiver, Reuben Randle. WKU had a corner on Randle, with a safety over the top for double coverage. I knew right away that it would be hard to get Randle the ball. JJ dropped back to pass and then looked Randle's way. Apparently, JJ was shocked that Randle was covered and he froze, not knowing what to do. The protection was not real good on that play, and it led to the safety. Basically, the quarterback had to know before the snap that there was a good chance of Randle being covered and he needed to be prepared to throw the ball out of bounds to the LSU sideline if that was the case, not hold the ball and freeze in your own endzone.

I agree

Well then someone needs to call back half of JRs and Rohans 50 yard completions.
Im not trying to say he made a good decision but just because he flung it while wrapped up doesnt matter if there was an eligible receiver in the line blocking.

In some defense of JJ that was a horrible called play. You give your guy one receiver set from his own endzone. Expect failure. At Moo State we were in the same position but they ran an inside crossing route with RR. OC should be ashamed of himself.
