Question about male deer and their aggressiveness

About a week ago, I walked outside to find 3 does and a buck in my front yard. All four of them stared at me very intently as I left the house. I'm assuming the buck was trying to mate but I'm not sure.
In that situation, is a male deer likely to charge you or anything? I've heard that they could be very aggressive during mating season, and I wouldn't have stood much chance against this guy.

I've never had one attack me, but I would think during the rut if you had a musk then he might be tempted. Otherwise I would assume he'd run like any other time.

They didn't run, but they stared a hole through me. I guess they wanted to be sure I wasn't a threat.

I'm sure it has happened buy rare. I have seen YouTube videos of attacks.

Dude that used to be in the hunting club claimed he was charged. He was hunting on the ground against a tree and saw a nice buck. Don't remember if he started to move or blew a call or what exactly he said happened next but it started coming at him so he shot, hit an antler broke it off making him fall (lost his balance I guess) and he was able to shoot him in the chest when he stood back up. Sounds like an exaggeration to say the least but he drove up with the buck with have of one side of the rack cracked off.

My dad has a scar from a puncture wound an 8 point gave him pinning him to a fence. It was in the rut. But they were penned. He never had problems feeding them before but this time, he got nailed. Beat it back with a feed bucket.

No lie, I was charged one time.
I was returning home from call at 6 am to Walden subdivision in Conroe. I was driving a Toyota mini van (admitting this is how you know I'm telling the truth). When I turned on my street a doe shot across the road and I hit the brakes. Then a young 6 pt stepped out in the road. He was standing dead center of the road watching the doe when he realized I was at a full stop just sitting ther watching him only 12 feet away. When he did he turned to face the minivan and lowered his head and began pawing the pavement and grunting. He made a short bluff charge and stopped and I inched forward thinking it would scare him off. Unfortunately, he decided he was game and actually charged the van hitting the grill. Laughing I hit the horn and he hauled arse.
Thankfully no damage to the mini van.
To OP there have been reported cases but they are very rare. If you are scared you could always get a noise maker or just fill the freezer with some tasty venison.

All I had on me was a pocket knife, so I would have to hack away like crazy.

Would have made for one hell of a story.

Didn't a guy get killed in California a year or two ago?
ETA: I mean killed by a buck.

I don't have the figures but bucks kill more people than you think each year during the rut. Seems like it is about 1 or 2 each year.

Friend of my dad's was charged by a buck that was in a high fence. Got him right at the waist, ripped his ball sack open and had to have surgery. Ouch.

that brings entirely new meaning to the phrase " getting racked"

I have only been charged by one buck and he was wounded. I put a bad neck shot on him and he was still alive when i walked up. The 9pt jumped up and came towards me and I unloaded the .45acp in his arse
