Is this the year for a new one to come out?

Are they even shooting yet? I checked IMDB and it said November 2012, but lists is as in pre-production. I know I heard a really good commentary on NPR about it. Basically, this isn't only the last gasp for Bond, but for MGM and Columbia pictures as well. If this doesn't see a pretty decent return on investment, all three are dead dead dead.

"Bond 23" is currently scheduled for a 2012 release.

Idris Elba was actually on NPR discussing rumors that he would be the next Bond.

I did not know bond wasn't a money making business.

They're not cheap to make. $200+ million budget. MGM filed for bankruptcy back in November.

MGM and Columbia may give up, but no WAY does Bond, James Bond go away. And aren't they making a movie about Ian Flemming?

There was talk of a Fleming movie starring James McAvoy, but that was a long way back. Haven't heard anything since.

Also, Fox had a deal in place a few years back that fell through to buy the rights of the Bond franchise from MGM. I imagine if MGM goes under, the rights will be sold.

Bond isn't going anywhere. Foolish to think so.

the new bond sucks and they have made the series like bourne identity with the crappy camera work. They need to go back to what worked.

Ever since they ran out of Ian Fleming books the Bond movies have royally sucked.

If it's not based on one of his novels, I'm not watching. I'd rather watch a remake of Dr. No or Goldfinger than the drivel they write today.

I'll give Quantum of Solace a pass because of the writers' strike. Casino Royale was great.

The movies were only loosely based off of the books anyway. Craig is a great Bond. Deal with it.

I was curious and did research on this the other day actually. I believe filming is supposed to be starting in the next few months and it'll be coming out next year.

And the best of all, there's potential for Javier Bardem AND Ralph Fiennes to appear as villains

You must be out of your mind. Casino Royale was the best Bond movie since Connery's run.

So because its action scenes are similar to Bourne, more great movies, Bond is crap?

Ludicrous

Uh, okay...I'll deal with it by not watching. And no...modern Craig Bond is no more special than any other modern action flick. It's lost its charm.

Unless you have read and heard the same news I have, don't assume.
