Should he? I don't know if any player has made it in as a returner, but i'm assuming there hasn't. He's clearly the most accomplished returner in league history, and he's got plenty of years to continue to build his records. He's only 28 or so.

If Ray Guy isn't in, Devin Hester isn't going in for his Special Teams contributions either.

He'll end up with the likes of Ray Guy, Steve Tasker, and Brian Mitchell.

Fantastic specialist, but undervalued in the eyes of voters...

I thought Tasker was in or am I thinking of something else?

If he was anything more than average at WR, he may have had a chance.

Ask this question again in about 5 years and you will get a better response.

Hell, if he was just average at that, he might have a shot. Problem is, he's not even close to average as a WR.

It's a damn shame the lack of consideration the special teams guys get considering how important a facet to the game they are.

I think that if he has 3-5 more great years as a returner, people may seriously think about it. At that point he would have shattered every return record in the books. He may not get in, but I think it'll be closer than some people expect.

Has Mel Gray?

Gray (in 11 seasons) had more than double the return yardage that Hester had in 5+.

Neither of their numbers approach what Brian Mitchell did.

Hester doesnt really return kicks anymore.

and he has 15 return TDs to Gray's 9. Thats not even close.
