Teams seem to move to their color jerseys in the later half of the season. It makes sense for out door teams in hot weather, because you're reflecting light off of your jersey instead of absorbing it.

Payton has said white jerseys first half of the season, black the second. I don't know about a pants rule of thumb.

I didn't say it made sense for us. However, teams seem to follow this pattern, and that's the only conceivable advantage I can gather from doing it.
