The only way Joe comes out of this without egg on his face is if he hires, for longer than a 24 hour period, one of the other top school coaches.
And those coaches will be loving it considering that they now have the power position.

Joe looks a little bad and Murphy looks like dogshit but I agree he's now forced to make a move for a major coach. I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to offer 300K to Mike Candrea.

I can't see how this is a poor reflection on anybody but Murphy. Alleva didn't do anything wrong. And I liked the little verbal hiney spanking he gave ol' Pat in the press release in the OP.

No way Candrea leaves - especially since his wife passed.
Hell, see if Caldwell has any pull with the softball coaches at UCLA and try to get Lisa Fernandez. That would be a fantastic hire. You could maybe throw the checkbook at ASU's coach and UW's coach and get them to come down here. ASU would be tough, as he's been in the state of AZ for a while, and is starting to build a great program. On the other hand, he knows that it will always be difficult in the Pac-10 for him.

This is true. Some guys at my office where talking about him being "light in the loafers." I didn't know at the time that Murphy left Bama and thought it was weird for two grown men sitting around talking about whether or not another grown man is gay. But then again, it was two Bama fans.
