again...link? or do you know how?

A Washington Post poll showed Americans believe a government shut down would be more damaging for Republicans in terms of pubic image. The poll revealed that 62 percent believe Republicans are “playing politics” and do not really care about how it affects Americans, while 43 percent believed the administration is trying to resolve the issue.

OK Toddy. So now that you've provided a link showing how fricking dumb Americans are, exactly why are you so stupid as to ignore that this budget should've already passed before last November?

Right, but there's not an asterisk next to the definition of "bankruptcy" which states, "can be avoided in the event of "compromise"".

It doesn't work like that. We can't afford compromise. We're running out of time.

Essentially, anyone who think this is the Republicans fault is plainly stupid. There's just no other way of putting it.

Hack post of the day nominee by the OP...

Last year the dems control the house, senate and executive office...don't pass a budget...pass Obamacare on a $500B lie, but don't pass a budget...pass financial reform which costs every American with a bank account money, but don't pass a budget...

Since January when the Rs took over the House, if I am not mistaken, they have passed three proposed budgets, none of which have been voted into approval by the D controlled senate. The D controlled senate has approved no budgets...

Yep, sounds like the Rs fault to me...

Really, it all started back in the days of FDR when entitlement programs and excessive government spending were all thrown into the mix.

It's the Republican's fault. If they would grow some backbone and stand up to the Tea Party we wouldn't have this mess.

Why should they stand up to the Tea Party if the Tea Party is right? The mess was created by the Democrats not passing a budget and Obama/Pelsoi/Reid adding 5 trillion in debt.

The Tea Party just wants to get things under control. The party you support just wants to maintain the status quo.

Oh and the Washington Post Poll....

Why are people upset with a shutdown?

Shut it down and keep it shut down.

Absolutely baffling that people don't see this.

But Americans are obviously stupid when it comes to finances, so it shouldn't be too shocking I guess.

The thing is even if it shuts down everyone will still get paid. That's why the Democrats want it, nothing but a paid vacation for government workers.

Cmon Toddy, even you are better then this.

The polls you cite put the blame almost evenly on both parties. Again, it says the people blame BOTH parties. So when you say who is really at 'fault', I think blame and fault are pretty much the same thing here.

Further, none of the polls use the freaking wording "do not really care about how it affects Americans". That is simply the bias of the author of the article to confuse simpletons that it is fact (he got you apparently).

Hell, even the Huff Post did a better job of not injecting inflammatory false language then the lump of crap you cite.

ompromise has gotten us a nearly unpayable debt. Compromise that screws the country for the sake of compromise is a irresponsible practice.

Nah. Think about Ryan's budget from a couple of days ago. He's a professional politician. He KNEW the democrats would balk at the lack of defense cuts. This would be like a democrat putting forth a budget with NOTHING BUT defense cuts.

Ryan KNEW his budget would go nowhere - which begs the question: What's the point? Political theater? Until there is a compromise to where everyone feels the pain, there will be no improvement.

Here is the key point from the polls that Toddy hackishly omitted:

quote:

In a poll released this week, the Pew Research Center found Americans will put blame equally on Republicans and Democrats if the government shuts down at the end of the week. The poll revealed 39 percent would blame Republicans, while 36 percent would blame the Obama Administration. An MSNBC poll shows that Republicans, Democrats and the White House are sharing the blame almost equally between the three of them.

Doesn't Ryan's budget contain the cuts to defense proposed by the White House?

Kind of like the dems bringing the republicans in on the healthcare legislation... Oh wait nevermind

In reality this is squarely on the dems.. If they would have simply passed a budget last summer as mandated, none of this would be occurring..pretty simple.

Whether it goes anywhere or not, the bottom line is the social entitlement programs as defined are not sustainable (a 12 year old with a calculator can crack that code). We can mock the concept that a bunch of social democrats would do other then not realize that and fight it tooth and nail, but that does not change the cold stark math.

I would rather a politician point out fiscal reality (even regardless of his rationale) then continue to perpetuate the lies that the current entitlement system is sustainable in its current shape or form.
