IYO: What Obligation Do NFL Owners Have to Full Financial Disclosure...

...to the NFLPA?

Because the owners want 8 billion in return. I don't think it's all that much to ask in return. The owners just don't want people to see the stupid salaries and other crap the owners spend money on.

None, but that doesn't mean the Union has no right to ask.

they have no obligation. but they should be prepared to prove why they "need" more money.

They can't prove it w/o opening the books

A great deal, since the CBA is essentially a revenue sharing agreement.
The NFL owners and the NFL players are in a partnership that agrees to share revenue. If one side claims that they aren't making enough money, then they should prove it.

thats my point. the NFL has no obligation to open the books. but don't ask for more money if your not willing to.

just curious, why aren't the Packers books open record?
Posted on 3/11/11 at 12:08 pm to classictiger
Technically? No obligation.
But you can't say you're losing money and want to shift the balance by a billion dollars between the players and owners and provide no financial backup. That's just retarded.

They are. They are the only team which is open and they are turning a profit.

Packer Open Up Their Books

I've heard that the Packers made $5 million whatever the most recent year their records are available for.

Yes, but profits are down, and that downturn coincides with the last CBA
quote:
The Packers earn much less than they did four years ago. Their operating profit fell 71 percent from $34.2 million in the year that ended March 31, 2007 (which coincides with the start of the current collective-bargaining agreement), to $9.8 million in the year that ended last March 31. Revenue rose 18 percent in that period to $257.9 million. The primary reason for the sharply reduced profit was player costs (salaries and benefits), which swelled in those years to $160.8 million from $110.7 million.

It also coincides with the recession, and their investment income also fell...
And keep in mind that the Packers are a non-profit organization...
