Maybe it is just one guy over-blowing the LSU-SLU game....

But really, people. It is ONE baseball game, in February, no less. We will learn ZERO about either team on Tuesday night, regardless of who wins and by how much. Some of you people have not figured this out yet. Baseball is not equal to football. One game is irrelevant.

(Except for the people in Lafayette. When ULL beats LSU in baseball, it is akin to winning the World Series)

right, because seeing how your team matches up and competes to a opponent is not a good thing, esp since you have played 7 games to inferior opponents

i think it'll be a good chance to see where both teams stand two weeks in...

No shite. We don't need this lecture every season.

Like SLU isn't inferior? Even if SLU wins, do you really think they can beat us in a 3 game series with our weekend rotation?

No, we do need that said every year, and we'll need it again at some point this year

Well we don't need it on the rant until that becomes an issue.

eta: or maybe it gets old once LSU loses its third series in a row in May and people are still trying to use it.

Compared to LSU yes, but better then the teams we have played so far and my guess is they are a tournament team

I understand that it is just one game and will not make or break a season, but Im excited to see how we compete

Heres the thing. If "One game" is irrelevant then that means the next game is to. Then the next and the next and the next. Before you know it the whole season is irrelevant. GUess that means we should stop caring.

Losing doesn't kill your season but um...I dont want to lose so...I'm gonna care about every game. So

Like I said before, they might beat us on a weekday game, but they could not beat us in a weekend series. I doubt they beat us anyway with Jones pitching.

I want LSU to win, so I am not going to stop caring. However, if SLU happens to win 12-4, I am not going to give up hope on the season. If LSU wins 18-2, I am not going to be ready to declare LSU Omaha-bound, either. No conclusions should be drawn based upon the outcome of a
February baseball game.

In late April of 1991, SLU beat LSU 15-2 at the box. That season ended up pretty well for LSU, didn't it?

I don't think the caring is the problem...it's the catastrophe syndrome that seems to set in after a mid-week loss to a state school. There will be multiple "PM is not the right coach" threads before the season is done.

Although I am hoping the "Former semi-pro player" will show back up this year, he was entertaining.

Yes you could, but its very unlikely for your team to beat us in a 3 game series.
