CNBC is covering a story on the Remington 700 going off without pulling the trigger. Also a conspiracy theory that Remington knew there was an issue but covered it up.

I have a Remington 700 7mm 08 that I have had for 15 years. Once had it go off as soon as I took the safety off getting ready to shoot a deer. It was cold (15-18 degrees) and I had gloves on. I always thought I must have had my finger/glove touching the trigger without realizing it until I heard about this. I am still not sure if it went off on its own or if the glove may have been touching the trigger. It has never happened again and I am always very careful to stay away from trigger while releasing the safety (always have the gun pointing in a safe direction)
