Do you really think Miles is going to do anything with this recruiting class if he sticks around with them for 3-4 years? They'll just be replacing PP, Shepard, Toliver, Randle as talented players either winning a few games for Les that he shouldnt have or wasting away while future Karnell Hatchers and Jordan Jeffersons give games away. There is no amount of talent that can keep Les from losing fewer than 2 games in any given year.

Could be some truth there. If he truly wanted to end the Michigan discussion, Les could have a "Great Day"-type presser and emphatically say that he is not going anywhere. The fact that he hasn't makes me think he would def talk to Michigan if approached.

put them both in the same circumstances to see this. Miles recruiting job is ridiculously easy. Not to down play some of his gets but come on...

Yep. Recruiting is a waste is you can't do anything with it.

First, I would not be wrong, but rather the players would have been wrong.

Second, if Miles is going to Michigan, that would have been decided on Tuesday at the earliest. Miles could have easily interviewed OC candidates before that, when there was no opening or offer at Michigan. Furthermore, if Miles is interviewing candidates, I am sure that is/was happening in Baton Rouge, not in Arlington, and the tean left on Saturday. Belowpar and the players could both be right.

Miles is a borderline idiot when it comes to game day coaching, but he's got a good thing going when recruiting is factored in. Not only are you now hoping for a magical homerun hire late as shite, but now you're counting on homerun coordinators. I'm done w/ this discussion though bc it's all for nothing. Miles ain't leaving until I see it. He's got too good a thing going right now.

that's not what I said at all. You don't need to have a huge name as an OC or DC to have someone competent.

I'm not the biggest Miles fan, to say the least.
But, with the current class we have coming in with recruiting, I hope he stays. I really believe we have a very special class coming in and I don't want anything to happen that could mess that up.

depends which tuberville you'd get. if he's hungry or not...

and as long as most of those guys hire good coordinators I don't think it would be much of a change. Miles isn't so genius mind. His coordinators will make him look smart or retarded. See the last 3 years.
true in most cases anyways (genius meyer w/ adazzio coordinating). With what's available now i'd rather miles stay than leave.

like Books alluded to; we play our bowl game on january 7th. if miles doesn't take the michigan job immediately (say it takes until wednesday) then it likely will take a week or two beyond that to hire a head coach who then wouldn't have time to fill out a staff in time for signing day. this puts the current class (best in recent memory) in extreme jeapordy.

At least the talent gives LSU a shot at it as he's shown in the past; that's not even guaranteed w/ a late desperation hire to replace him

So long as we keep the four difference makers on board, I'll be fine with whoever else we bring in.

I'm talking about Collins, Freak, Landry, and Hilliard, of course.

Keeping Jenkins and Randle would be nice, too.

If so, hopefully Miles has informed Alleva so either the pot is sweetened or they have a few days to start recruiting Miles replacement before he leaves.

Miles will either leave or use this opportunity to extend his contract.

when has Tuberville done close to what Miles has? Auburn is showing now that it can be done there.

the chances of a new coach coming in though and being too dumb/stubborn to not at least keep Wilson on long enough to bring them in is probably <10%

Yeah, IF..it actually happens the timing absolutely blows. Days matter at this point in the game.

Yeah, Tubby never exhibited a high recruiting prowess. He relied mostly on 3 star leftovers from Bama, Georgia, and Florida.

He did a helluva a job with those guys, though.
