People need to stop looking at scholarships as 4 year free rides. They are not. They are year to year. If you are out there working your butt off and doing everything you can do they rarely take them from you, no matter where you are on the depth chart. If you aren't up to the competition or are a trouble maker then yes, your year is up, bye bye. This is big boy football.

Sad story...or stories, but if these players are so good why didn't they get picked up by another D1 school...like the guy who went to Kentucky?

Once a recruit commits to a school other schools typically quit recruiting them. And if it happens on or after National Signing Day most schools already have the recruiting class signed.

Because when a kid quits putting out for one D1 school, then the other D1 schools choose not to take the baggage.

Good point, but the letter might be a formality.
This. A player can't transfer until he is released from his scholarship. That letter proves nothing. The two players from Alabama that asked for their release got the same letter....hence, the language "form letter".
