Stevan Ridley quote on Lee

quote:
"Jarrett is our quarterback," said junior running back Stevan Ridley. "I've said it all along since the beginning of the year that I had a lot of faith in Jarrett Lee."
From today's LSU Reveille
This quote from Ridley tells me all I need t know. Here is the SEC leading rusher saying that Lee is our quarterback.
In other words the team sees him as their leader and he should be the starter.

He also knows that with Lee under center he has a much better chance of being successful

when i read this in the paper i said to myself "uh oh, Les doesnt have a lot of wiggle room now"

Stevan Ridley is the man, but, I would think this would be a very inappropriate statement for a team member to make.

It is what it is. I love this kid, say what you want he speaks the truth.

Would have been at the beginning of the year.
At this point, Lee has played when it counted and earned the right for his teammates to speak up on his behalf.

If he said JJ sucked. I'd agree that would be inappropriate. But he merely stated an opinion that was positive.

There are some plus and minuses to the comment, but one thing to keep in mind:
If Ridley (our current offensive star and a team leader) is rallying behind Lee and will go to war confidently with Lee, then that attitude and confidence will spread to the rest of the team. If LSU keeps winning and growing more and more confident and reach their potential, then I doubt any time is going to beat them.

Is he still the leading rusher after Saturday?
ETA: Nope

Ridley has done a great job for LSU this year. He's been very dependable.
JJ is actually #18 in those rankings as well.
As far as Ridley's comments - he's basically just saying he has supported JL as a team member and their QB before he had any success this year and when people were still down on him. Same thing they've said about Miles, etc. He's just saying they've been behind him.

I think Toliver may feel the same way. You have to think that many more of the team players would be feeling this way.

No doubt... you could see a big difference in Florida's defensive scheme when Lee was in the game vs when JJ was in the game.
Lee spreads out the defense... plus for Ridley.

I don't think there is any doubt that TT would rather see JLee at qb than JJ.
I am sure that TT's stats with JLee at qb would bear that out.

It's obvious across GEAUX NATION and obvious amongst the players that Jarrett Lee is a leader in total control of this offense. The offensive rhythm and tempo is crisp and makes the team around him better. The players really want a championship and can taste it. They know that JLee is the one QB that can lead them to one. It's time Les gets Crowton on board with this and gives JLee 85% of the snaps.

this thread would hurt jefferson's fragile feelings and should be taken down.

...looking like Crowton has been on board because Lee can expand the offense
(by knowing ALL the plays and being able to pass the fricking ball)...
... just waiting for Les..

Les giving Jefferson more snaps will eventually divide the locker room.

Hey Stevan, can you stop by Les Miles office and let him know this, he seems to be the only one out of the loop!
