I have started watching reruns of this show on IFC. why did the networks cancel thgis great show. It appears to me to be far superior to what was on and is still on network television now. it was a great show with a great cast.

Wasn't it somewhat similar to the Wonder Years?

I've been watching them on IFC as well. My thought is that while it was a quality show with an excellent ensemble cast, it just don't have a hook to draw people in. There is very little growth and/or change in the characters in any episode.

there's not growth within the episode, but the character arc from start to finish for the whole season is readily apparent.
every single major character experiences growth

Not at all. The Wonder Years was about Kevin/Winnie/Paul growing up with/without each other and their obstacles.
Freaks and Geeks was about the outcasts and the trouble they got into.
PS - Youtube Seth Rogen's audition for Freaks and Geeks. Very funny.

quote:I thin kthe growth (and regression) is rather large for each character. How about the episode in which Seth Rogan questions he sexuality? First off, super funny. Secondly, tons of growth for a fairly minor character. Great, great show.
